This study conducted an art-based narrative inquiry to help understand the life as an alcoholic and life after suicidal behavior through the stories of the participants who experienced suicidal behavior, which is a concept that includes suicidal thoughts, plans, and attempts as a male alcoholic. The participants were 3 people, and the data collection period through in-depth interviews was from February to August 2019, and the interviews were conducted 7 to 10 times per participant. This study is an art-based narrative inquiry that combines art-based research that collects narrative inquiry methods and data, which are perspectives and methodology to study experiences, and presents pictures together with writings on the meaning of life of male alcoholics who commit suicide. The research procedure was implemented in accordance with the narrative inquiry procedure proposed by Clandinin and Connelly (2000). All of the participants were alcoholics and experienced suicidal behavior in common, but their experiences in life were found to have unique environments and emotions. Although the current state of drinking and suicidal behavior differed according to the participants, the participants discovered and reevaluated the meaning of alcohol, suicidal behavior, and drinking and abstinence in the process of exploring art-based narratives. The meanings of life of male alcoholics who commit suicidal behavior derived from the research through the art-based narrative inquiry are as follows; 'drinking put off life and death at the same time', 'loss becomes a terrible pain', 'candles falling out of darkness', and 'blessing of Sisyphus'. Based on these results, the personal legitimacy of this study is 'meet self through the life of others', the actual legitimacy is 'counseling: tapping the body and mind of the alcoholic who commits suicide,' and the social legitimacy is 'to go long and far together'. In this context, counseling for suicide-behavioral alcoholics was discussed, and the significance of the study and suggestions for follow-up research were made.
