Academic purposed Korean learners need learning skills to study their major. By language function, reading and writing skills are most needed. Newspapers are good teaching materials that can develop both reading and writing skills. Because there are many related texts and various types of texts on the same subject, they can identify key information, form a new meaning, and use it for rewriting. The purpose of this study is to investigate the study of academic purpose learner and the use of newspaper in Korean language education. In the Korean language education, the newspaper has various advantages in developing reading and writing ability. Reading and writing lessons using newspapers can be divided into the steps of forming a background knowledge, searching and reading, forming a knowledge of mutual textuality while sharing readings, and reconstructing. This will be a lesson plan for academic learners to develop basic reading and writing skills necessary for their studies by applying the information they have read. (Keimyung University)
