이 연구는 문학교육에서 정서 이해 능력 증진을 위해 대위 그림책이 이바지 할 수 있는 지점을 밝히고자 한다. 인간은 타인의 정서를 신체를 통해 지각하고, 지각된 정서의 표지와 관련된 사건들을 일련의 서사를 구성해 나가며 정서를 이해한다. 이처럼 정서 이해는 지각과 해석이라는 상이한 수준에서 이루어지며, 이 층위에는 다른 능력이 개입한다. 대위 그림책은 의도적으로 글과 그림이 각각 독자적인 서사를 제시한다. 대위 그림책에서 정서를 표상할 때, 글과 그림의 대위적 기법은 재현하고자 하는 정서의 심층적이고 복합적인 측면을 강화하며, 독자는 즉각적인 지각에 기대는 것이 아니라 여타의 정보를 복합적으로 조합하고자 노력하면서 정서를 이해할 수 있다. 이 글은 <알도>를 중심으로 대위 그림책의 정서 재현 방식과 그 교육적 의의를 밝혔다. 대위 그림책은 실제 삶에서 복합적인 정서가 나타나는 방식을 효과적으로 재현하기 때문에, 학습자에게 타인의 정서를 이해하는 가상적 경험을 제공할 수 있다. 또한 발달에 따른 서사 감상을 통한 정서 이해 교육이 각각 지각된 정서의 명명과 구체화에서 복합적 정서의 추론으로 나아갈 수 있다고 본다면, 대위 그림책의 심미적 구조는 복합적 정서를 추론할 수 있는 유용한 교육적 매체로서 가치가 있다.

The study explores the role of counterpoint picturebooks in the context of improving emotional understanding in the literature education. Human beings perceive other people’s emotions through their bodies and understand the emotions by organizing a series of narratives related to the signs of perceived emotions. As such, emotional understanding takes place at different levels of perception and interpretation. The words and pictures in the counterpoint picturebook intentionally represent a different narrative. When the counterpoint picturebook represents the emotion, the irony between words and pictures intense the complex aspects of the emotion. The reader can understand the complex aspects of the emotion by combining many emotional makers from words and pictures to understand the emotion, rather than relying on immediate perception. This study suggests the example of representation of emotion in counterpoint picturebook by analyzing Aldo. Because the counterpoint picture book effectively represents the way complex emotions appear in real life, it can provide learners with a virtual experience of understanding others’ emotions. In addition, the aesthetic structure of the captain’s picture book is valuable as a useful educational medium for deducing complex emotions, given that emotional understanding education through narrative appreciation following development can move from the naming and embodying of perceived emotions, respectively, to the reasoning of complex emotions.
