Quite some of language phenomena in modern Korean language that cannot be easily explained by formal rules or principles can be explained through the understanding of language facts in previous generations. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to prepare basic data for the preparation of significant grammar teaching methods utilizing the knowledge of the history of Korean language for grammar learning in the deepening stage by foreign learners specializing in Korean language (Korean grammar) in universities for academic purposes by selecting those grammar items that have undergone the process of grammaticalization or remain in fossilized forms among grammatical phenomena in modern Korean language and approach them in diachronic perspectives to analyze the word forms.
To utilize the knowledge of the history of Korean language in Korean grammar teaching/learning activities, above all, teachers should have background knowledge of the history of Korean language. If teachers prepare efficient teaching/learning methods actively utilizing the knowledge and apply the methods to grammar classes, the learners will go one step further from simple memorization of grammatical phenomena in modern Korean language to systematically and macroscopically understand the history of Korean language and it also seems meaningful in terms of Korean language culture learning.
