As most of the learners of Korean are adult learners who are learning this language in a formal context, the grammar is an essential part of the instruction. In this paper, I investigate how the grammar is dealt in the textbooks. Chapter II the main part of the paper, is a comparative study of some commonly used textbooks. Here, the descriptions of 21 grammatical items were compared. This includes questions about the relative order of the grammatical items introduced in the textbooks, the way how they are defined and described, and also the terminology. Differences were found in all these areas, and especially the terminology and the translations seemed to be confusing. So, some suggestions were made for the improvement in chapter Ⅲ.
