COVID-19은 전세계에 큰 영향을 미치면서 글로벌 경제에 심각한 어려움을 주고 있고, 세계보건기구에서 전세계 대유행을 선포하면서 항공산업에 심각한 영향을 미치고 있다. 글로벌 항공산업에서 COVID-19의 영향을 극복하기 위한 다양한 노력을 하고 있다. 따라서 COVID-19의 진정시기를 추정하여 항공산업의 회복시기를 전망하는 것은 매우 중요한 과제이다. ICAO, IATA 등 국제 항공관련 기구에서 전세계 항공시장을 대상으로 항공수요 전망 분석을 실시하고 있지만, 불확실한 COVID-19 진정시기 때문에 실질적인 회복시기를 전망하는 것은 매우 어려운 과제이다. 본 논문에서는 COVID-19의 충격에 대해 우리나라 항공시장의 여객수요 회복 과정을 분석하고자 한다. 즉, COVID-19의 진정시기에 따른 항공여행 심리 회복, 항공사 운항편 회복, 여행수요 회복과정을 시스템다이내믹스 모형으로 모형화하여 분석한다. COVID-19의 진정시기에 대한 불확실성은 COVID-19의 항공산업 영향에 대한 기존 설문조사 결과를 활용하여 시나리오를 설계하고, 이를 기반으로 COVID-19 이후 우리나라 항공시장에 대한 여객수요 회복 과정을 분석한다. 연구결과 우리나라 국내선 항공여객 회복은 예상보다 빠르게 회복할 것으로 전망되고 있으나, 국제선 시장의 여객수송 회복은 최대 2년 이상 소요될 것으로 나타나고 있어 항공업계의 어려움이 더욱 가중될 것으로 전망된다. 따라서 항공업계는 불확실한 미래에 대한 다양한 대응 방안을 마련할 필요가 있고, 정부에서도 항공시장에 대한 보다 정교한 분석을 기반으로 항공산업 생태계 재건 및 활성화를 위한 정책을 개발해야 할 것이다.

COVID-19 is having a serious impact on the global economy, seriously affecting the aviation industry after declaring pandemic worldwide by WHO. In the face of the rapidly growing COVID-19 pandemic, the global aviation industry are trying to minimize and to overcome the impact of COVID-19. Depending on the effective control of the spread of COVID-19, the recovery process of the aviation market can be reacted by various types. The evolution of the disease and its economic impact is highly uncertain which makes it difficult for making an appropriate strategic response. Although ICAO, IATA, and some researches have tried to analyze the market impact on the global aviation industry, it is very difficult to predict the future recovery process of the aviation market due to the uncertainty on the effective control of COVID-19. In this paper, we focus on the analysis of the recovery process for air travel passengers in Korea in the post COVID-19 era. Using a system dynamics model, we develop the air travel passenger recovery model for the post COVID-19 in Korea. For an empirical analysis, With some scenarios on the uncertain air travel market for the post COVID-19 era, which are based on the survey by AMSOK, we analyze the recovery process on the air passengers for the domestic and the international flights in Korea. According to the analysis, we can find the recovery from the impact of COVID-19 will be in a year for the domestic market, but for the international market it will be lasting for more than 2 years. Even though, our research predict the recovery process for the uncertain future air travel market, it will provide some implications for overcoming the difficulty on the aviation industry. We hope this study will be useful for expanding various studies on the impact of the COVID-19 in the aviation industry.
