This study examines whether labor has a longitudinal effect on life satisfaction through self-esteem in early aged people. Using the eight waves (7-14 wave) of Korea Welfare Panels, 65 to 74 year-olds are analyzed by latent growth curve model. The main findings are as follows: For the elderly who work, the initial value of life satisfaction was low, but the higher the sense of self-esteem through work, the higher the satisfaction level of life. In particular, when the elderly get a job, the rate of increase in self-esteem increases, thus increasing the rate of satisfaction in life. Based on these findings, this study suggests implications for job opportunities for senior citizens and for promoting life satisfaction.
