본 논문은 포스트휴머니즘의 사상적 배경과 사유의 흐름을 조사하는 것으로부터 논의를 시작한다. 이러한 조사를 통해 밝혀지는 핵심 내용은 포스트휴머니즘이 근본적으로 허무주의적 포스트모던 사상에 잇대어 있다는 사실이다. 이와 같은 사실이 분명함에도 불구하고 현재 포스트휴머니즘에 대한 관심의 초점은 기본 사상의 맥을 짚어보는 것보다는 과학기술에 의해 강화된 인간으로서의 포스트휴먼의 가시적 특징을 살펴보는 것에 다분히 맞추어져 있다. 이러한 문제의식 속에서 본 논문은 현대 철학 사조로서의 포스트휴머니즘에 내재된 포스트모던적 특징을 포스트모더니즘의 주요 두가지 특성인 ‘근본바탕의 부재’와 ‘새로움의 부재’를 통해 규명해보고자 한다. 이를 바탕으로 본 논문이 기대하는 바는 두 가지인데, 첫째는 포스트휴머니즘 자체에 대하여 보다 근본적이며 보다 명확한 이해를 도모하는 것이며, 둘째는 이를 통해 포스트휴머니즘이 기독교 사상, 특별히 기독교 인간론에 미치는 영향과 사상적 도전의 방식을 파악하여 이에 대응하는 것이다.

This article begins with examining the ideological background and conceptual flow of posthumanism. The key point revealed through this examination is that posthumanism is fundamentally linked to nihilistic postmodern thought. Nevertheless, the current discussion of posthumanism tends to focus not on the essence of posthumanism as a philosophical thought, but on the visible features of posthumans, which are enhanced by cutting-edge technologies. With this problem in mind, this article attempts to identify the postmodern features of posthumanism through the two main characteristics of postmodernism: groundlessness and nothing new. Throughout this research, this paper expects two things. The first is to promote a more fundamental and clearer understanding of posthumanism itself. The second is to identify the effects of posthumanism on Christian thought, especially Christian humanism, and to respond theologically to its ideological challenges.
