2020년, 우리는 ‘뉴 노멀(New Normal)’의 환경 속에서 살고 있다. 그것은 바로 ‘코로나19 팬데믹(Covid19 Pandemic)’으로 인한 ‘사회적 거리두기’와 ‘언텍트(untact)’ 환경이고, 또한 최근 한중일 삼국에 형성된 정치적 냉각기라는 환경이다. 이 뉴 노멀의 환경 속에서 한류는 새로운 비약을 경험하고 있다. ‘온라인 동영상 스트리밍 서비스’로 불리는 ‘OTT(Over The TopService)’ 기반의 글로벌 플랫폼은 개인 사용자(user)의 안방에서 한류에게 새로운 비상의 출로를 제공했다. 사드배치로 인한 국가적 충격과 예상치 못한 ‘안방’에서의 비상, 혐한정서로 인한 위축과 가상공간을 통한 새출구의 생성 등은 오늘날 동아시아 ‘한류’를 둘러싼 숨 가쁜 행보를 잘 말해주고 있다. 2020년 6월, 드라마 ‘사랑의 불시착’은 일본에서 시청률 1위를 기록하였고, 그 밖에 인도, 대만, 태국, 싱가폴, 필리핀 등지에서도 한국드라마가 넷플릭스 시청률 TOP10에 다수 편이 오를 정도로 새로운 전성기를 맞이하고 있다. 우리가 주목해야 하는 것은 비단 한류의 새로운 출로가 아니라, 대립과 혐오가 장기간 지속되고 있는 동아시아 뉴 노멀 시기에 한류로 인해 생성된 새로운 문화공간이다. 냉각기와 언텍트 시기에 생성된 신문화공간이 과연 동아시아 피로지대를 완화하고 증오공간을 반성하는 또 다른 차원의 평화지대와 똘레랑스존의 구축이 가능할 수 있는 가에 대한문제의식 속에서, 일본 내 한류는 하나의 실험적 모델을 우리에게 제시하고 있다.

2020 we are living in a “New Normal” environment. It is a “social distancing” and “untact” environment due to the Corona 19 pandemic, and it is also an environment of a political cooldown that has recently formed in the three countries of Korea, China and Japan. In this new normal environment, the Korean Wave is experiencing a new leap forward. The national shock caused by the deployment of THAAD, unexpected emergencies in the “Home Culture”, atrophy due to hate emotions, and the creation of a new exit through a virtual space are well telling of the breathtaking steps surrounding the “Korean Wave” in East Asia today. What we should pay attention to is not only the new exit of the Korean Wave, but also a new cultural space created by the Korean Wave during the New Normal period in East Asia, where confrontation and hatred persist for a long time. Amid the question of whether it is possible to build another level of peace zone and tolerance zone that can relieve the fatigue zone in East Asia and reflect on the hate space, the Korean Wave in Japan Presenting us an experimental model.
