The recent paradigm shift in education is in progress. Until now, several subjects which have been little wonder about whether educate or not in the school, are made an issue from different standpoint. On this occasion, we judged that Korean education need to examine for the identity and the validity from the outside view. And we examine the status across the curriculum of Korean education because Korean education could continue advancing on a firm academic foundation when we establish the identity and the validity which distinguish from other subjects. For discussing about the cross-curricula characteristics of Korean education, we examined the instrumentality of Korean subject first. For this, we examine ze characters which technical tools and psychological tools have and concretize instrumental characters of the korean subject. And then we examined the cross-curricula characteristics which Korean subject has from the aspect of learning instrument. We discussed about how Korean subject mediate and accelerate the learning phenomenon through examining a number of studies. Finally, we proposed several directions which Korean education should take to firm up the status across curriculum. This article does not intend to assert that it is only whole thing that Korean subject should be tool-subject. That is not only right but also what we wished for. We merely propose to seek the possibility to expand Korean subject`s influence in the education and to recovery the cross-curricula characteristic of Korean subject. When ready to be that, Korean education could be developed on a firm foundation.

This research studies the concept and role of background disciplines in the process of the development and design of subject curricula. It has long been a common belief that a subject is originated from one or more background disciplines. However when we look into the histories of many subjects, we can easily find that the background of each subject is not only limited to disciplines. Many subjects have grown from specific traditions of practices. I have critically reviewed this idea in the areas of both curriculum development and curriculum design. Reviewed from the comparative subject perspective, the relationships between subjects and disciplines are complex and dynamic. For the development of subject pedagogy, the links between them need to be studied more throughly than they have been in the past.

‘Sufficient input` is assumed to be one of the core conditions for successful second language acquisition in both the Natural Approach and the Focus on Form Approach. This paper observes that this condition is difficult to meet in `foreign` language teaching contexts. It proposes that the limitations can be overcome by employing linguistic systems of the target language as organizational foundations of foreign language teaching.

This paper investigated the issues related developing `core standards of reading(CSR)`. The concept, needs, and developing strategy of CSR are reviewed. CSR is an integrated reading skills and strategies which are ready for college and career tasks as a core competences. To satisfy CSR, every students could read various fiction, nonfiction, and media texts independently at their college or career research situation. The 21st century required our students to have core competences. Reading is one of them. So, it is necessary to develop CSR. In the U.S., core standards drafts were developed, and monitored by the public. To develop CSR in Korea, it is necessary to reflect the social needs and the Korean subject curriculum fields such as reading, literature and media. After analyzing the U.S. core standards, this paper presents the development guidelines and example of CSR.

The major issue of Korean grammar education is the selectional matter of whether we will recognize intrinsic value of language or not. And the intrinsic value of language is the value of the knowledge about Korean Language itself. After all our selection must be subordinate to the matter of scope of Korean language education. In this paper, I reexamined the essential characteristic of Korean language education as a subject of language, and showed that the Grammar education based on Utilitarianism may lost a lot of value inherent in the knowledge about Language. And I proposed the viewpoint that we should persue various value of knowledge about Korean Language widely but should regard understanding knowledge as basic goal in Korean grammar education. I called this viewpoint as `the theory of inclusive value stress on understanding`. And then I proposed a contents system for Korean grammar education constituted with `language level` and `action level` stand on this viewpoint.

This study starts as a way of making efforts to crystallize the possibility of the interesting grammar education utilizing stories. We need an alternative that can break through the present conditions under which learners remember the grammar class as the most boring and painful experience of learning, and the persistence of the knowledge of grammar, seemingly unable to secure, learned through such painful courses. The critical points this study has are summarized as the following two statements. First, Since the educational contents related to grammar have become unclearly showed as the method of presenting the contents of the grammar education concentrated on explanatory materials since the period of the 5th Curriculum was integrated into other areas when it came to the 7th Curriculum, its educational contents might be considered to be secondary. Second, even if the contents of the grammar education is exclusively presented, it is problematic that it still consists mainly of learning activities that provide a few explanations, examples and lead to repetitious exercise. Based on this critical points, this study explores the possibility for the grammar education utilizing stories to make difference from the delivery of fragmented knowledge to the delivery of contextualized knowledge through the course of the construction of the contents of the part-of-speech unit in accordance with the 2007 revised curriculum.

This paper aims at studying the crisis and the voice of old fashioned woman during modernizing period in and . In , the voice of woman`s parents-in-law has been introduced. In this text, an old fashioned woman has suffered from married life in the home of the husband`s parents and an reasonable claim for divorce from husband. Nevertheless, she keeps her position and has a dream of meeting her husband again. On the other hand, the voice of woman`s husband has been introduced in . Crashing into voices of husband and wife as the contracting parties in a marriage, trouble between husband and wife reaches the climax. It is important to illuminate existence of old fashioned woman as an excluded person during modernizing period, comparing with the man of modern city.

The purpose of this research is to examine existing communication condition of SNS(Social Network Service), especially micro-blog in Korean educational aspect. Nowadays, it becomes more important not to use multi-media but to participate in it. Then, we report in this article about twitter and me2day. We suggest that critical understanding ability and interactional presentation ability for communicating others by SNS. Critical understanding ability consists in knowledge of media and metacognition that evaluate communication in broad perspective. Also, interactional presentation ability consists in considerate writing and confidence.

This study is applicable to the phase 2 of `A Study on Status of Internet Language Use in School Education and Improvement Plan` as implemented from November 2008 ~ October 2010. As being undertaken in a total of 3 phases, this study has the first phase in finding out the status through survey of Internet language use and the second phase in contemplation of education contents through the survey on experts. The third phase of the study is planned to implement for verification of the improvement plan through the on-site studies. On this article, the expert Delphi survey was implemented for the study of education contents of the Internet language. The expert Delphi survey is to extract the opinion and determination of expert group on the research issue to clarify with the group determination as a way of research and this is a useful method to plan several fields of programs including education. The categories surveyed through the expert Delphi survey were defining concept of Internet language, direction of education, content elements in Korean language education, and evaluation and current tasks on the present Internet language education. The Internet language was defined as `language and signs in integrated form as communicated on Internet and became a medium of implicated action`, and as the direction for the Internet language education, the focus was on appropriate language education to fit into the context, rather than the education on grammatical norms. In the meantime, the trend was shown to value the understanding of education rather than the expression of education in the Internet language, but there is an opinion that the education has to advance from understanding to expression along the hierarchy of learner. In addition, for the contents factors of the Internet language education, importance has been presented in the sequence of critical reading on the text, knowledge on the Internet communication structure, knowledge on the Internet language, participatory writing for social communication and sequence of communication ethics of the Internet language. With respect to the currently implementing Internet language education, a number of experts evaluated that the systematic education contents and method have lacked with the general insufficiency in Korean language education theories, education process, contents of teaching material, evaluation criteria and the like. For the current issues of the Internet language education, there are characteristics of the Internet communication method shown after Web 2.0, characteristics of language culture, characteristics of the Internet communities and issue of establishing the identity, study on production of Internet language and production and acceptance.

This paper aims to investigate how various writer`s and texts` variables correlate with academic critique`s quality of college students. Writer`s variables include prior topic knowledge and degree of source text comprehension. And text`s variables include length, organizational score, type of evaluative commentary, type of source of support and text configuration patterns. The analysis on the data showed the low correlation of topic knowledge and text`s quality(r=.437). But there was high correlation of the degree of source text comprehension and text`s quality(r=.899). As for the text`s variables, organizational score and type of source of supports were two major factors which had high correlation with text quality(r=.729, r=-.620). Against the result of prior studies, the portions of negative commentary had not high correlation with text quality score(r=.524), which means the type of writer`s approach to source text itself has low importance of text`s quality than the type and abundance of support.
