This paper aims to explore the properties of raising and hyper raising constructions and to provide appropriate analysis for them. In this paper, we have proposed a novel analysis of raising and hyper raising constructions, based on the Phase cancellation proposed by Chomsky(2015). More specifically, we have proposed for the raising construction that T to C movement forms a structure [T [T C]], which causes CP to lose its phasehood and allows a subject DP to continue moving to main clause. One of the consequences obtained from this analysis is that raising verbs such as parecer/seem do not subcategorize TP(=IP), but CP. We have also proposed for the hyper raising construction that T moves to C too, but in this case, C forms a structure [C [C T]], based on the fact that this construction should have a lexical complementizer que/that. Under this hypothesis, we have accounted for the difference in grammaticality between Spanish and English hyper raising construction.

The objective of this study is to develop teaching materials with the biblical text and to teach the Bible in Spanish, based on Task-Based Language Teaching. First, a history of the use of Scripture in the teaching of English and Spanish is reviewed shortly. Second, Task-Based Language Teaching is adopted as a criterion for the development of materials with the Spanish Bible. The theoretical framework of Willis(1996) is introduced in detail focusing on certain typical tasks for each task phase: pre-task, task and post-task. Third, some exemplary materials are presented, which are developed with the Bible text of Genesis 37:2-11 following three phases of Willis' framework. Not only reading comprehension but also listening comprehension and written and oral production, even the creative project are presented in various tasks. Some cultural comparison about ‘envy’ and ‘sleep’ between the protagonist José and the reader is also discussed. The task of ‘Focus on Form’ with respect to the Spanish past tense is also presented and practiced as a phase of post-task. Finally, some contributions from this study are written.

Education in the 21st century requires a new teaching method suitable for the present generation, which is innovative, flexible, and maintains the purity of academia, but is not out of date. The infusion-type teaching method that has been used for a long time in the field of education was a passive model acquired through language, which is a teacher's commentary or explanation, that is, a 'teacher- centered teaching method' which systematically delivers knowledge or information possessed by a teacher. On the other hand, a new teaching method called Gamification, designed with the elements of a game in mind, is popular in Spanish educational settings. In this age, when “studying” has become a societal standard, “learning” has become a joyful play, and the gamer himself is the subject, leading the world within the game and teaching methods that enhance the learning effect are very interesting. This is because the biggest purpose of using game elements in the field of education is so students can display 'modified behavior'. In other words, students themselves participate in games in the form of play to stimulate their learning motivation and achieve their goals. Therefore, this article introduces the term “gaming” that reached its peak in the Spanish educational scene and helps introduce and promote this teaching method to talk about a new class model for the 21st century. In conclusion, I would like to discover the effectiveness of the gamification teaching method based on the results of surveying the learning achievement and students' satisfaction by applying the gamification class to the Spanish classes of the general education requirements in university.

Although phatic communication has not gotten much attention in research for the institutional discourse, in fact, it is one of the clearest manifestations of interlocutor’s disposition to cooperate to each other, to achieve a common communicative goal, and to maintain social cohesion. The aim of this study is to examine the linguistic realization of phatic communication in medical context. In the first half of this article, we review the concept of phatic communion from the point of view of Malinowski’s original idea (1984) to highlight the need to distinguish the term, ‘phatic communion’ from ‘phatic communication’. And Holmes’s criteria (2000) have been applied to distinguish social speech from the instrumental in medical context. The analysis on the corpus suggests us to specify such forms in two subcategories depending on the degree of relevance to the context. As a result, we can underline that phatic communication manifests itself in various forms and functions, as well as to various degrees. In addition, phatic markers have been found to be an important resource for performing the technical task because of its positive value in interaction.

This paper presents the selection of singular/plural forms of the impersonal verb haber, one of the most interesting phenomena of spoken and written Spanish nowadays. These forms, according to the standard/non-standard uses respectively based on the Spanish academic norm, have always been subject to debate among grammarians and linguists on both sides of the Atlantic. Therefore, the article considers beforehand several existing studies and examples of the verb haber throughout the evolution of Spanish. For the purpose of dealing with the subject in the field of education, we included traditional grammars in Spanish and the contents of grammar books dedicated to international and Korean students. In traditional studies, the meaning of ‘existence’ of the verb is highlighted and its plural use is sometimes added. Most resources for learning Spanish explain the impersonal form in present hay at the basic level without mentioning its singular form in other verb tenses. To know the influence of these explanations on Korean students who learn and speak Spanish, we have obtained related corpus with interviews consisting of 26 questions. Results from sociolinguistic analysis indicate that all survey participants knew the impersonal verb haber always remains singular in present tense, whether the noun phrase that follows is singular or plural. Nevertheless, it does not occur the same in the past and future verb tenses since 35% of the respondents pluralize this verb in simple tenses and 44% in compound tenses. Finally, we add a reflection on whether the pluralization of haber can be linked to Spanish-speaking countries where students learn the language or is it a mere confusion that they make in relation to its auxiliary function.

In human history and after establishing monogamy, a marriage couple who is made up of one man and one woman comes to have absoluteness. As it were, the husband and wife should not make the sentimental or sexual relationship with other people until death at least theoretically. But feeling of love and physical attraction between and among marriage couples weaken by degrees in precess of time, and married people easily chase extramarital relationship. And practically more than 50% of married man had experience sexual intercourse with other women. The contemporary Spanish novelist Juan José Millás already recognized kinds of ‘identity game’ in various ways such as exchange, fragmentation or extension of identity in his works. He descried the couple as like a perfect set and a pair of shoes. He also identified that the his characters in his novel are ones of those people that dream of the extramarital relationship. Despite that, a male character who achieves the extramarital relationship does not feel satisfaction as the result of wish fulfillment. And rather it seems that he solves his desires for extramarital marriage by the change of identity of himself or his partner, or by the projection of the entire group of ‘the woman’ in his partner. Therefore we can suppose that Juan José Millás shows us the possibility of the resolution of that desire by the identity game.

Prohibido suicidarse en primavera, Alejandro Casona’s play which had already been praised in Mexico in 1937, was successfully performed in Madrid in 1965. Los árboles mueren de pie was also successful in Argentina in 1949 and in Madrid in 1963. Although 60 to 70 years have passed since their debuts, both of his plays were performed in South Korea to critical praise even though the language and culture are different. Both of his plays attract the public regardless of the time period or society. It may not be evident that the positive feedback from the public represents the excellence of the work. This study introduces Alejandro Casona, who was loved by the public in 20th century Spain, and his literary universe. It examines the popularity of his works by narrative analysis, as well as of the characters. As the role of public has become wide and important in accepting works of art, this study aims to raise awareness of public popularity.
