The purpose of this study is to qualitatively analyze the discourses and arguments between plaintiffs and defendants to determine what kind of indexicals they use to achieve social behavior. In this study, I look at the process and practice of context dependent language use and describe the relationship between narrated and narrating events. Public trial involves a litigant or a lawyer making a statement or claim in court. The first listener is the judge; the people listening to the discourse through their televisions constitute the second listener. The final judgment is judged by the first hearer and the second hearer helps to make a fair judgment. The attorney is responsible for delivering the citizen`s legal request to the national judicial authority. The judge makes an objective and fair judgment based on the public`s trust. In order to perform the discourse analysis procedure effectively, QSR Nvivo11, a qualitative analysis program, was used. The common nodes were “the case and the law,” “institutional supplement,” and “reality of marriage.” The social behavior achievement pattern was analyzed and plotted based on these three nodes.

대학생의 정체성을 고려한 교양교육으로서 화법 교육의 설계

The purpose of this study is to explore speech education for college students as part of the liberal arts education. In this paper, I have asserted that university speech education should include not only development of ability for learning but also education for career activities as well with the identity of college students taken into consideration. With this in mind, I have proposed the following four specific design methods. First, the curriculum should be intended to deepen the ability of speech on a step-by-step basis. Second, a key discourse should be selected, followed by concentration and transfer the relevant knowledge. Third, students should be given opportunities to conduct reading, listening, speaking, and writing in an integrated manner by engaging in such activities as `reading discussion`. Fourth, students should be trained to build and utilize knowledge on various concrete discourse situations such as job-seeking purpose and academic purpose.

수업 대화에서 재진술 피드백에 대한 초등 교사의 인식 연구

This study aims to analyze aspect of restatement feedback in instructional conversation, to investigate teacher`s recognition thereof, and to consider dynamically revealed aspect and function of feedback from the viewpoint of a teacher. To this end, it analyzed 10 study videos and extracted feedback aspect; through essay form survey of 6 teachers and in-depth interview of 2 people, restatement feedback was classified into reiteration, refinement, focusing, generalization, and elaboration. And, essay form survey of restatement feedback speaking was conducted on 21 teachers. As a result, it was found that teachers provided feedback considering not only to reacted students but also other students and that feedback conducted various functions complexly. Also, it was confirmed that teachers were concerned about time and contents of feedback between target-oriented class and students` interaction. Later, it is required for teachers to establish feedback structure as 1:1 structure between a teacher and a student instead of a multi-layered structure and then, to bear complex feedback function in mind.

The objectives of this study are to confirm that figurative expressions are important in speech and suggest various stages of activities that can help students refine such expressions in their speech manuscripts using cognitive metaphor theory. The speech manuscripts of students and evaluation results of their speeches are closely related. However, students cannot easily reflect on the characteristics of their speeches in all the processes involved in speech preparation, including writing its manuscripts. Therefore, to improve their abilities of making a good speech in a speech class, the students must be provided detailed guidelines for each step of the activity of writing a speech manuscript. This study discusses expanding the range and level of students` activities in speech generation in order to develop guidelines for them to create newer and more diverse expressions.

A Study on the Aspect of Debate Discourses in the Korean Language, Extracted from the TV Show `Bi Jeong Sang Hoe Dam(Non-Summit Meeting)`. Yi, Kieyoung. < Abstract > This study aims to examine the aspects of the debate discourse in Korean extracted from a TV show. It analyzes the functions, discourse markers and debate expressions employed in the discourse. It makes a comparison between the result and the debate discourse markers and expressions found in common Korean Language Textbooks as learning suggestions. Consequently, the study will help Korean learners to engage in debates with more natural and diverse verbal expressions. The discourse markers or expressions in the collected data commonly represent typical patterns of similar aspects. Moreover, Korean learners have learned to make use of typical expressions. Therefore, this study examines a TV show in which the speakers spontaneously communicate on a variety of topics, in order to research diverse discussion aspects outside the classroom. The result of the study will give helpful suggestions for expanding and improving the discussion and debating ability of learners.

혼잣말과 자기복잡성, 대인의사소통 능력의 관련성 연구

The purpose of this research is to identify the interrelation among the three capabilities of self-talk, self-complexity, and interpersonal communication. We predicted that self-reflection and analysis through self-talk will affect cognitive development. Self-complexity, the skill that makes one`s perception of his or her role more complex, is estimated to help understanding one`s own role as well as relationships with others through interpersonal communication. This paper aims to look at the interrelation among the three capabilities and confirm the routes of the relationship among the three. A survey was created and conducted on 151 university students. These questionnaires were used to grant uniformity to the survey methods because they are self-reflecting questions. Considering the role of oneself and others within interpersonal relationships, self-talk standards and self-complexity questionnaires that recognize one`s own role have been used. Results showed an interrelation among the three capabilities and confirmed that self-talk directly affects interpersonal communication and also has an indirect effect through self-complexity. Thus, this paper confirmed the routes among the three capabilities of self-talk, self-complexity, and interpersonal communication.

The purpose of this paper is to establish ways to improve multicultural education that includes the cultural diversity of students to ensure education without discrimination. First, we introduce Culturally Responsive Teaching as a method of instruction. Next, we analyze two films―the French film, The Class, and the American film, Freedom Writers―which demonstrate the aspects of culturally responsive teaching. The two films address the multicultural classroom, highlight the implications for improving the classroom environment, and illustrate various teaching methods. As such, the following summarizes the various culturally responsive teaching approaches in the multicultural classroom. First, educators should have foundational knowledge and cultural competence so that they can engage students with varying linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Second, teachers should be made aware of students` interests concerning their learning experiences and methods. And teachers should also be taken a detailed explanation of the intrinsic `essence` and `potential characteristics` of students culture. Third, it is necessary to develop and practice effective communication techniques that consider students` language, culture, and socio cultural backgrounds. Teachers should also establish the practical value of cultural empathy and consideration in the classroom through collaborative and horizontal dialogue practices. Fourth, teachers should actively include students in the learning process and establish high expectations for their academic achievement.

The purpose of this study is to develop an academic listening curriculum based on core competency. Traditionally, since learning involved obtaining static and absolute knowledge and skills, the structure of knowledge played a major role in the curriculum. However, a rapidly changing society requires efficient problem-solving abilities regardless of circumstances. Therefore, attention has now shifted to core competencies in developing curricula. First, in order to develop a Korean academic listening curriculum, the concept and traits of core competencies will be revisited. Second, we will identify implications from the cases of curricula based on core competencies and establish the direction of developing our curriculum. Third, we will show how the Korean academic listening curriculum of Sungkyunkwan university is developed based on the core competency approach.
