TV 선거 토론 담화에 나타난 체면 위협 행위의 의사소통 양상 고찰 -형식적 기제를 중심으로-

This study seeks to examine how face-threatening acts manifest in televised debates as active interaction among its participants, and explore their dimensions and influence through identification of formal categories. The explicit mechanisms employed in the dialogues in televised debates were categorized, and the characteristics and effects of face-threatening acts were analyzed case by case. To this end, face-threatening acts and their scope were redefined, and elements which can influence the dynamics between debaters were identified. Moreover, based on interaction between debaters, the factors that can influence face-threatening acts were classified into two types, in accordance with formal categorization and explicit mechanisms: 1) face-threatening through the structure of discourse, 2) face-threatening using lexicon and grammar- enabled discourse by. Based on these factors, the distribution and effects of face-threatening acts, which appear on TV debates, were analyzed, besides the change in dynamics and discursive effects they inspire. Furthermore, base on how such characteristics and elements affect one's social face, a communication strategy regarding face-threatening was suggested.

This paper presents the development and application of the SAIRO program, a generation empathy program using narrative interviews. The SAIRO program was designed by three principles: ‘cross-generational communication’ beyond memory collection, ‘sharing experience’ beyond experience accumulation, and mutual ‘co-narrative’ beyond monologue. In addition, the SAIRO program has elements of ‘life history’ in content, ‘narrative interview’ in method, and ‘video recording’ in expression. As a result of applying the SAIRO program, there was a change in cognitive, emotional and attitudinal aspects for the participating students. First, through the SAIRO program, we learned how to recognize and accept the difference between generations naturally in the process of systematically collecting the stories of elders. Second, learners have found that seniors are also thinking about the same issues as social issues. Third, after the experience of the SAIRO program, students can hold hands with their grandparents and have a friendly conversation now. Changes in the students participating in the SAIRO program suggest the need of Korean education for cross-generational communication.

학문목적 한국어 학습자의 글쓰기와 말하기에 나타난 표현 전략 사용 양상 비교 연구

The purpose of this study was to examine the usage aspect of learners’ expression strategies that appeared while writing and speaking Korean. To investigate this, the research team conducted the study based on reports written by foreign students and contents of compositions and presentations submitted for the final examination. Using these materials, we studied whether the subjects were aware of their expression strategies while writing and speaking Korean. In addition, we compared differences in the strategies chosen for writing and speaking. The results showed the following. First, learners recognized the expression strategy, which they revealed during the performance of the task. Through this, we confirmed that learners could avoid producing errors, although ‘strategic error’ tended to be generated in different ways depending on strategy used. Second, learners used different expression strategies for writing and speaking. However, there were some errors generated by ‘strategic absence’ in the areas of writing and speaking. As a result, we confirmed the great importance of ‘meta-cognition strategy’ in expression instruction. This study has significance as baseline data that examines the reality of Korean expression instruction and seeks improvement. However, it has a limitation in that the collected data and the learners’ individual characteristics are not revealed. A topic of further study would be to examine characteristics according to nationality, gender, and major of each learner, and to classify the impact of these criteria.

한국어 말하기 평가에서 나타난 채점자 신뢰도 및 일관성 연구

This study aims to examine the reliability and consistency of raters of Korean speaking tests. This basic research can identify the type of education that can enhance the reliability of rating in speaking tests, which are mainly assessed using subjective assessment criteria. In this study, we intended to study the rating tendencies, reliability, and consistency of raters by conducting two separate experiments under the same conditions and separated by a certain interval. As a result of the analysis using the FACETS program based on the Many-Facets Rasch Measurement model, the second rating saw an overall improvement in inter-rater reliability; however, raters’ consistency varied regardless of their career experience in the field of Korean language education. It is necessary to train raters to improve assessment reliability, and these study results confirmed that individualized training that can be customized for each rater’s personality or characteristics is needed. In addition, this could be an alternative to training raters if the intention is to improve self-consistency through self-observation by using scientific tools that can measure the rater’s reliability and consistency.

This research aims to analyze speech texts in the Korean textbooks, one of the areas of discourse education for public speaking. Analyses of speech texts were based on the rhetorical analysis system. First, this study identified types, themes, and objects in speech texts. Second, it analyzed high-frequency words and noun words used for speech texts in the Korean textbooks through Wordsmith, and R Programing, and Wordclouds. Third, it conducted an analysis of persuasive strategies of speech texts based on a context in which words were used in a text. This study has significance in that it examined characteristics of speech texts in Korean textbooks Using the rhetorical analysis system and explored a potential for identifying persuasive strategies centered on words.
