말하기 평가 방법의 활용 방안

The purpose of this study is to find out how to apply the following speaking assessment methods: holistic assessment, complementary assessment, and analytic assessment. The results of this study are as follows. First, the three speaking assessment methods are reliable as assessment tools. Second, the scores differ when different speaking assessment methods are used. Third, there is a difference in scores depending on the combination of speaking assessment methods used. Fourth, specific speaking assessment methods have interactive effects with the proficiency level of the subjects being evaluated.

Given the communicative situation of current society with the upcoming Artificial Intelligence (AI) era or the Fourth Revolution, future speech education must be reconstituted based on the essential question: why must we listen and speak in a certain way? This study critically discusses various theories on “listening·speaking” and “caring” to adapt “caring thinking,” which is recently explored in Korean language education and other fields, into the listening·speaking education. Further, a communication model is developed to reflect the intentions of listening·speaking education. The model is based on the characteristics of elementary school education which sets forming a desirable personality of learners as its aim. It is also derived from the awareness that Korean language education is a basic subject of thinking and the activity of listening/speaking is the core part of the acts of caring. The study consists of two main subjects. First, it suggests a model of communication for elementary listening·speaking education which is manipulated to activate caring thinking as the filter before creative thinking or critical thinking that have been conventionally emphasized in Korean language education. Second, it discusses the direction for the contents and means of the future listening·speaking education. Along with self-reflection on Korean language education which has mainly stressed rationality and efficiency, this study is part of the efforts to materialize a new direction for listening·speaking education for future generations.

한국어 학습자의 의사소통 불안과 한국어교육용 앱(APP) 사용의 관련성 연구

This study examines the relationship between the communication anxiety of Korean language learners and their use of applications in Korean language learning. Since the smartphone market started in 2010, it has developed applications for Korean language education and, today, various Korean language learning applications are available. The purpose of this study is to examine how the preferences of Korean language learners influence their intention to use Korean language learning applications. Accordingly, the study involved measuring the communication anxiety and innovativeness of Korean language learners and examining whether they use applications to learn Korean and how frequently they use such applications. Results revealed that 80% of the respondents use Korean language education applications. On examining the relationship between learners’ characteristics and the learning method, the study reveals that technological innovativeness of learners is associated with their tendency to study Korean using the Internet or mobile applications. The current study, which examines the relationship between learners’ tendencies and use of educational applications in Korean language learning, is significant in that it reveals how the development of diverse learning methods not only diversifies the methods of learning but also facilitates the design of customized learning methods suited to individual learners.

Praat을 활용한 한국어 억양 수업의 효과 연구

This study examines whether the use of Praat in teaching Koran language intonation is effective for Chinese learners. For this purpose, I examined earlier studies in intonation and the use of Praat as an analysis tool as well as an educational method. Previous research reveal that no significant result was obtained regarding the effectiveness of using Praat in teaching intonation to Korean learners. However, in this study, I used Praat for Chinese learners and taught “eul.geol”. Further I found that the group that was trained in intonation using Praat achieved a more appropriate accent than the group that was trained without using Praat; further, I found this result to be statistically significant. In conclusion, Teaching Korean Intonation using Praat can be beneficial to Chinese learners, since the method enables them to acquire much visual and objective information. Further, Praat can be applied to various Korean intonation items in the future.
