It is argued that the reduplication of Jeju Korean is a case of cooperation of universal grammar of perception and localized grammar of production. While the general shape of emphatic forms is made through maximizing the perceptual distance such as Maximize Distance of Formants, Maximize Distance of Duration, and Maximize Distance of F0, the specific arrangement of the perceptual principles is applied by phonotactic grammars which are realized as raising and fronting in vowels as well as tensification, aspiration, and onset or coda addition in consonants. This process of negotiation between two grammars is a motivation of the reduplicative adverbs.

There are many paternal side-oriented, male-oriented kinship terms in Korea compared to Jeju where the kinship terms used to paternal kins are also literally used to the distaff side, wife´s old home, and husband`s old home. It may result from that women are undereducated and are less influenced from Confucianism, but it could be a former relative system before the settlement of Confucian relative system. Among those kinship terms of JeJu dialect, the kinship terms for female speakers are classified into the terms of address and the terms of reference, and the semantic features called [±honorific],[±male] and[±familiarity] are selected to examine the characteristics of the kinship terms used by female speakers in Jeju. In case of the terms of address of JeJu dialect used by female speaker, [-honorific] terms are developed and there are many [+familiarity] terms. In the married life in Jeju area, people need not to form the immediate family and take care of in-laws, but they support themselves. Therefore the terms about sister-in-law or a brother- in-law also don`t use terms of respect but ordinary terms as for younger brother and sister. In the aspect of the use of kinship terms, men prefer the terms of Sino-Korean words while women mainly use Hangul kinship words using basic terms several secondary terms. Women construct and use compound words based on plain terms, that is, several basic terms to complete the kinship terms. Female speakers use the kinship terms of complicated relationship with the form arranging names of kinship, and those made kinship terms are only used as the terms of reference. The terms of address for [-male] mainly use the prefix ``Si-`` or are the titles native to female. These are only used as the terms of reference except the terms of address. And ``Chinjeong-`` meaning the maiden home of married women is also used only in the terms of reference. Regarding the terms of reference, there are many [-familiarity] expressions combining local name. Combination of a local name and a kinship term is used as terms of reference. It is originated from the mind of speakers who intend to simply memorize and speak the complex kinship and pragmatic spirit of Jeju women could be seen. In Middle Korean, in case of the kinship terms making reduction of meaning JeJu dialect has not been accomplish reduction of meaning yet. ``neot-`` means brothers of grandmother in a standard language while is used as the term of reference for bothers of grandfather in JeJu dialect. Also ``orabang`` in JeJu dialect is used to designate not only younger brother but elder brother, and it could be considered that reduction of meaning is not yet accomplished.

This paper seeks to analyze from the perspective of the interlanguage theory the transitional constructions that Chinese lerners of the Korean language acquire through the use of nominative and accusative case markers and suggests the pedagogical solution to prevent fossilization of interlanguage. The data presented in this paper shows that Chinese learners acquire the case marking system in Korean by means of universal grammar that encompasses case concept. However, the ommission of case marking is a phenomenon that occurs due to the under-development of spontaneousness that is required in applying the case marking principle. Thus, it is suggested that the teaching material include a solution that encourages learners to apply the principle of case-marking spontaneously. Moreover, this paper finds that the errors of replacing nominative case with accusative case is due to a transitional construction which is acquired when the learners have not yet recognized that some intransitives (i.e. ergative verbs) have only one argument that generates at the object position in the underlying structure but realizes at the subject position in the surface structure. Thus, it is important for the teaching material to encompass not only the distinction between transitives and intransitives, but also that between ergative intransitives and unergative transitives. Lastly, in order to understand the errors that replaces accusatives with nominatives, this paper analyzes the characteristics that the student has not yet learned to distinguish whether the complex verbal phrases are constructed by incorporation of verbal heads or by clausal incorporation. Thus, in order to avoid fossilization of transitional constructions of case marking in Korean, it is important to include the grammar education that accounts for the constructional difference of the complex verbal phrases.

<楊賢門直節記> is a novel created by mainly accepting the loyalty, filial piety, learning and practice of 楊관 and the fidelity and spirits of 장천주, based on the former work of three-generation record style which covered all the stories of three generations. It was created to make later generation know and follow the good acts of 楊 family, the loyalty, filial piety, learning and practice of 楊관 and the enthusiasm of 장천주. Therefore, however interesting and helpful for making full-length novel the stories of next generations were, they are only unnecessary or somewhat overlapping to reveal the intent and subject of creation. So, the stories of next generations will be treated in the next work. <楊賢門直節記> made use of historical figures but downsized their realities greatly. In the narrative of real person 楊관, his executive ability and political power was downsized. Moreover, reality was reduced and slightly transformed with respect to 唐玄宗, 楊貴妃, 李林甫, 郭子儀 and 李光弼, who represented the times. This reality downsizing functions to play up the loyalty, filial piety and fidelity of heroes, 楊관 and 장천주. For the narrative of overall work, reverse composition was adequately used. Such reverse composition made characters unable to understand the human relationships and casual relationship while readers recognize both relationships. So, the narrator and readers could overlook the flow of narrative, from the viewpoint higher than the characters. It not only gave readers the pleasure to see secretly the progress of events but also made out chance-like inevitabilities through dramatic reversal.

Byon (born in 1754; died in 1824) comes from Shin Do Ri, Dae Jeong County, Jeju. He passed the exam of 島科; and later on went through several official jobs in the government. He held a typical confucian character; accordingly he authored several manuscripts that represent Confucian ideas. Byon fully recorded his experience of Shamanism in Jeju. The Anthology revealed diverse conflicts that involve Chung Geum An, which has not been found in other writings that dealt with Jeju society during his time. This finding has indicated that while the character of the ruling class of Jeju during the nineteenth century was dominated by confucian ideology, shamanism was a underlying force in its perception. In addition his opinions about Chung Geum An point that Confucian based country village was formed in Jeju; however was not fully established. This paper confirmed the previous findings that nineteenth century ruling class of Jeju represents Confucian character on the surface; but at the same Shamanism character was coexisted.

From 1910`s many historical novels pursuing amusement rather than lesson have been published. A kind of those historical novels was made by ``invisible mending``. Concrete method of invisible mending is as follows. First, combining historical fact with hero/heroin`s tales. Second, combining historical fact with hero/heroin`s tales, and general tales which is modified for hero/heroin`s story by the writer. Third, combining historical fact with hero/heroin`s tales, general tales, and other novel`s story which is also modified for hero/heroin`s story by the writer. Invisible mending was that handed down from old novels of the Josen(朝鮮) dynasty. Invisible mending historical novels used that method very positively, so most part of the outline have been composed by the existing stories. And those novels combined heterogeneous stories daringly in a work. The invisible mending method have become a style of the historical novels in the early 20`th century. Printed novels as a commercial goods have pursuit amusement positively. It was the reason why the invisible mending historical novels borrowed other interest stories. In university entrance essay tests. modern poetry is frequently presented as a guide to the essay writing and is used even to unravel essay topics. Modern poetry deals with life itself and the poet`s tone, his reality perception, the meaning of poetic language and the theme of poetry all have something to do with essay writings. Because the topics of essay writing also cover a variety of problems in society and life. On the other hand, when we design a teaching-learning model for practically using modern poetry in the essay writing, we must consider subject choice, background, specific class aims, related subject matter, class form, teaching materials and reference data, evaluation method and an estimation tool. In actual applied classes from this model, teachers help their students to develop high abilities including multi-dimensional thinking, deft command of language, artistic presentation and problem-solving skills. The use of modern poetry in essay writing is significant from two points of view. One is the aspect of essay writing and the other is the aspect of poetry teaching. Poetry acts as a ``frame`` with which we can recognize and decipher the truth hidden in contemporary social reality. This frame may help us to reach the heart of the best essay writing. Also, poetry education that takes advantage of the essay writing is not just simple appreciation of poets and its modificaton. The education can be a significant method of helping students to solve problems and to increase their creative mind. take advantage of the essay writing if see in poetry educational side is the sense not studying of appreciation and modification through poetry simply but learner can become one method that can raise having problem-solving ability and thinking faculty creative mind.

Previous studies about Oh Young Soo(1909-1979) mostly focused on the lyric characteristics and naturalism of his novels. Recently, there`s a tendency to read his writings from the viewpoint of ecological criticism. This suggests that the novelist is being researched in a new direction other than before. The purpose of this study is to reconsider Oh Young Soo`s literature. For the purpose, this researcher examined how the novelist started his career as a literary man and how his idea of literature was formed, especially from the viewpoint of genealogy. Underlying the novelist`s literature were so-called the Greater East Asia War(the Pacific War) and his own view of the world which was opposed to the foresaid violent image of the world. Anti-modernism, anti-urbanism, homeland, nature and life were the main themes of his literature. Ideologically, Oh Young Soo belonged to the genealogy of organicism that was pursued by Kim Dong Ri, Cho Yeon Hyeon and so on. But unlke them, Oh Young Soo practiced non-separation between literature and life by returning to the farm. This is because his literature became what was considered from the viewpoint of ecological criticism. Anti-modernism found in Oh Young Soo`s literature was to criticize modernity by means of the beauty of nature. In this sense, his literature might be criticized as an epigone of aesthetic modernity. But since he tried to embody his own agricultural view of the world, his literature can be reevaluated as having led ecologism. In association, much attention may be paid to the novelist`s inner sense of place suggested in his literal works. Contrast between homeland and city, place and space or experience and practice is an effective way to explain Oh Young Soo`s literature. His literature oriented a place that could arouse an inner sense of homeland or existence. In other words, his literature oriented and tried to maintain so-called the world of collective experience. Keeping in mind a certain permanent, mythical place he mentally experienced in the homeland, Oh Young Soo provided a way to another place that could be truly meaningful while enduring unfamiliarity and non-humanity he faced in the city. or Oh Young Soo, the power to create literal works was closely related with his own inner sense of places of insideness. On conclusion, his novels orient lyricism about the collective experience of place and stories that share such experience.

This study purposed to analyze the unique characteristics of poetic structure in Park Jeong-man`s poems and to explain what aesthetic form it shows in his poetic works. The discussion of this study is summarized as follows. One of the structural characteristics of Park Jeong-man`s poems is the contemporary inheritance of traditional meter. The meter is structured into a certain aesthetic form, and generally 4-foot structure or 3·4-foot structure is remarkable. Furthermore, the traditional meter is structurally modified in order to avoid the schematic homogeneity of meter. Many of Park Jeong-man`s poems also show 5-line structure. In his poetic works of such structure, one of the most remarkable characteristics is repetition. In particular, the repetition of the same phrase is prominent. That is, by repeating similar words or phrases, he emphasizes the poetic meaning to be delivered. On the other hand, not a few works reveal the structuring and tragic beauty of death consciousness. The death consciousness assumes a pessimistic or transcendental attitude, and this maximizes the aesthetic form of the inner structure. The death consciousness shows an ideological tendency until the indictment of Han Soo-san for his writings, and becomes more indicative after the incident.
