This study aims at proposing an exhibition programme with storytelling in the National Hangeul Museum for foreigners who learn Korean. To this end, other studies are examined first involving storytelling and the programme of touring and experiencing Korean alphabet in the National Hangeul Museum. Based on these, this study offers a content of the exhibiting and experiencing programme applied an educational storytelling method. This would draw a picture in a cultural experiencing class for beginners in Korean learning. Many Korean learners have different backgrounds because of their origin history and culture. So, it is important to select what they are viewed through the guided tour. Also, a theme of the story should be well decided depending on why they learn Korean, what they like, and how well they speak Korean, so on. In this reason, this study focus on the main characteristics in educational storytelling, for example the story introduced in the circumstances of teaching and learning, the learner-centered class, and interactions between story and learners. According to that, the exhibitions will be chosen, and also what story tells about are explained after dividing 3 different themes in which Korean learners can interact. Besides, this study shows how to make a study programme for Korean learners and suggests that in cultural experiencing classes, cultural relativism should be crucially considered for students. This study is to emphasize the importance of writing a sentence in a paragraph level as well as in a sentential level. Chapter 2 examined the necessity of the sentence writing education and then investigated what kind of grammar knowledge can be categorized as an education content in the sentence writing. Chapter 3 categorized the paragraph writing assignments of Korean native speakers and Korean learners into morphological element of sentence structure, agreement and word order between the sentence components and connection between the sentences for comparative analysis. As a result, it is observed that the Korean learners showed lots of morphological errors of sentence layer and experienced difficulty in the part of agreement and word order between the sentence components. Lastly, there were lots of unnatural sentences which are irrelevant to the overall subject in the connection between the sentences in a paragraph. It was found through discussion that sentence writing education for the Korean native speaker and Korean learners should be found. For the Korean learners, education for sentential levels accuracy and sentence education which can strengthen cohesion and coherence of paragraph levels are required. 한국어와 우즈베크어 단모음 체계 대조 분석 연구

The purpose of this study is to conduct a contrastive analysis of the Korean vowel system and that of Uzbekistan. The result of which is to be used for teaching Korean pronunciation to Uzbekistan learners more effectively and studying differences between the vowel system of Korean and that of Uzbek. Firstly, for that purpose, the simple vowel systems of both languages were compared via IPA(International Phonetic Alphabet). As a result, each IPA symbol of Korean /ㅣ, ㅜ, ㅔ, ㅗ/ was corresponded to that of Uzbek /i, u, e, o'/ respectively. However, the Korean vowels /ㅐ, ㅟ, ㅚ, ㅡ, ㅓ, ㅏ/ and Uzbek vowels /o, a/ had no equivalent IPA symbol to each other. Subsequently, the formants of monophthongs were contrastively analyzed via experimental phonetics. The results showed that only Korean /ㅓ, ㅜ, ㅐ/ and Uzbek /o, u, e/ were equivalent vowels. In conclusion, the result of this study indicated that teaching pronunciation of Korean vowels via IPA is problematic, and then proposed an alternate way for teaching pronunciation of Korean monophthongs. This study aims to analyze translated texts by Korean language learners, clarify aspects of text modification, and further find educational direction on the basis of it, focusing on Korean literary text, especially poetry. Accordingly let Chinese learners translate two poems into Chinese and retranslate Korean. considering translated text by learners as a kind of self-regulated input modification. As a result, this research shows various aspects of text modification such as addition, repetition, substitution, replacement, transformation, reconstruction at lexicologic, morphologic, syntactic levels. From an educational point of view, learners’ translation of poetry can be used in relation to translation criticism class in which learners learn compare, contrast their own translation and others. This helps learners mutually experience linguistically, culturally. Above all, it will bring interaction between teacher and students, among students to language class. (Semyung University)

The educational environment of Korean language is rapidly changing as the interest in Korean language, and Korean culture grows with the worldwide spread of the Korean wave. For this reason, this study aims to examine the potential of changing Korean wave based foreigners to the actual language learners. To do so, this study conducted a survey and interviews about ‘what motivated the Korean wave based foreigners get interested in Korean language (Korean culture) and changed them to become actual language learners’ Surveys were distributed to 152 participants from 30 different countries, of ‘Quiz on Korea’ TV program that is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and KBS. The study results indicate that Korean wave based foreigners are the potential learners of the Korean language and has a high possibility of becoming actual learners of Korean language, although the reasons the Korean wave based foreigners feel the necessity to learn Korean language are different by their preference for Korean wave contents, situations, ages, job occupations, surrounding environment, and others. The purpose of this research is finding a method for distinguishing derivatives of Korean color terms, ‘black’ and ‘white’ by using iconicity. It is very hard for Korean learners to understand derivatives with prefix and derivative with suffix of the terms ‘black’ and ‘white even though they look through a dictionary since the numbers of derivatives are big and difference of meaning is not noticeable. This research explains meaning types of derivative with prefix and derivative with suffix based on the theory of iconicity and proposes ‘meaning discrimination of Korean color terms’ for Korean learners. This ‘meaning discrimination of Korean color terms’ enables Korean learners to infer the meaning of color derivative without the help of dictionaries. (Kyungpook Natioanl University)

결혼이민자와 이주노동자의 입국 사증 취득을 위한 한국어능력 평가 체계 연구

With the rapid increase of number of foreign residents in Korea, the settlement of foreigners in Korea is a noticeable phenomenon. There are two major groups in the foreign residents who want to settle in Korea. One is marriage immigrants who want to reside in Korea as Korean citizens, and the other one is the migrant labors who are allowed to stay in Korea up to four years and ten months. And, there is one thing that we should focus on. It is that Korean government demand Korean language proficiency and the ability to understand Korean Society from the above two groups before they enter Korea. It is caused by the fundamental change of the Korean government immigration policy from the differential exclusionary policy to the social integration policy. In order to require Korean language proficiency and the ability to understand Korean society from the foreigners who want to reside in Korea, Korean government developed the assessment tools, which are Korean Language Evaluation for Getting Spouse Visa and EPS-TOPIK(Employment Permit System―Test of Proficiency in Korean). In addition to these two tools, TOPIK(Test of Proficiency in Korean), a national assessment of Korean proficiency, takes a role to evaluate them. It seems that the compositive systems and evaluation elements of these assessment tools are appropriate to attain the policy objectives of Korean government. In this thesis, these three types of Korean Language Tests are reviewed and evaluated. (Sangmyung University)
