일본인 학습자의 구어에 나타난 한국어 인용 표현 사용 양상 연구 -내적 인용(Internal Quotation)을 중심으로-

The objective of this paper is to analyze specific uses of Korean quotation expressions, specifically focused on spoken language of native Japanese learners. This paper is divided into five chapters. The first chapter contains the overall purpose and the key point of this study and observation of the general tendencies of Korean quotation expressions in spoken languages of Japanese learners. Subsequently, the concept of quotation will be explained in the second chapter along with its components, then the analysis criterions of quotation expression of speaker’s thought will be established. These criterions will be applied in the third chapter to analyze the tendency of native Japanese learners in how they quote their expressions and search the pattern which causes that tendency. The fourth chapter will suggest teaching contents which are focused on native Japanese learners based on the analysis done in the previous chapter. The last chapter will conclude with the general observation made throughout the study and some recognized limitations. A key observation made during the study was that the rate of native Japanese learners expressing their thoughts in forms of quotation expression was higher than that of the native Koreans, and they showed unique patterns using expressions such as ‘-구나 + 라고 + 생각하다’, ‘-다 + 라는 + 생각’, ‘-다 + 이런 or 그런 + 생각 or 느낌’. Some factors causing the unique tendencies which the native Japanese learners hold could be various influences from their mother tongue or lack of experience in such expressive context. Repetitive training and natural exposure to quotation expressions of Korean language are necessary to close the gap of error for native Japanese learners. This study suggests the direction of improvement of Korean language education program for marriage immigrants. Currently, Korean language education programs for marriage immigrants at the government level are representative of the Multicultural Family Support Center Program of Korean Institute for Healthy Family, the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and the Social Integration Program of the Ministry of Justice. Both institutions offer various programs for marriage immigrants in Korean language education and settlement in Korean society. In this paper, we compare the Korean language education programs of two institutions and analyze the Korean special programs operated for the last year(2017) through the database of Korean Institute for Healthy Family. It then suggests that the direction of Korean language education for marriage immigrants should be pursued in three directions: stable settlement of marriage immigrants in Korean society, faithful role as parents, and entry into Korean society through vocational works. Finally, it suggest a plan to run a Korean language education program for marriage immigrants by the collaboration between the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Gender Equality through the Korean language education programs of the Social Integration Program and the Multicultural Family Support Center of the Korean Institute for Healthy Family respectively. The purpose of this study is to study the bibliographic characteristics of fifth Korean textbooks published in the United States in the 1940s. This book is Bong. Y. Choy(1943), Harold H. W. Sunoo(1944), Edward. W. Pai(1944), Fred Lukoff(1945), and Fred Lukoff(1947). In this study, I found two more books that have not been introduced yet. Korean Reader "(1943), and" Conversational Korean "(1944) have directly discovered and introduced the textbooks. The authors introduced in detail the authors who were not introduced or revealed well. In addition, we compared the bibliographies, types and composition methods of the six Korean textbooks. Through detailed study, the characteristics of the notation system of each textbook were revealed, and the differences in the characteristics of the learning target, the textbook type, the textbook grade, the characteristics of the textbook structure. This study is worthy of the study because it shows the course of the Korean language education through the Korean language textbook published in USA in the 1940s. However, based on the textbook theory of modern viewpoint, there are limitations that can not be analyzed from various angles in terms of ‘textural typology, textbook development theory, and textbook evaluation theory’. ‘-(ㄴ/는)다’의 의미와 용법 연구 -한국어 교육에서의 항목 설정을 중심으로-

This paper aimed to select the principal meanings and usage of ‘-(n/neun)da’ to be presented and taught in Korean language education. Current Korean language textbooks and grammar books exhibit confusingly different meanings and usages of ‘-(n/neun)da,’ which is attributed to the complexity and variety in meanings and usages of ‘-(n/neun)da’. In Korean language education, ‘-(n/neun)da’ is defined as a declarative sentence final ending of Hera style speech level. However, its use is found in sentences which are not regarded as Hera style and it has functions that cannot be defined as a declarative sentence final ending. Grammatical features for Korean language education should be selected after considering their functions and uses to best facilitate effective teaching and learning. But for grammatical features that are complex and various in meaning and form such as ‘-(n/neun)da’, an analysis into their main definitions and usages should proceed the decision making process that occurs when selecting what should be included in Korean language education. This paper analyzed six Korean language textbooks, four Korean grammar books, and four Korean dictionaries in an attempt to categorize main meanings and usages of the final ending ‘-(n/neun)da’. Regarding whether temporal factors impact the meanings and form of ‘-(n/neun)da’ , this study found that there are relations between the meanings of ‘-(n/neun)da’ and temporal factors which are analyzed within a category of temporal localization or temporal-stability, as delineated by Talmy Givón (1984, 2001) and Yasuo Okuda(1988a). The purpose of this study is to identify and analyse the remotivating factors, specifically for people in Singapore who are learning Korean as a foreign language. Through the statistical analysis of survey data and interpreting the responses to open-ended questions in the questionnaire, it was found that ‘Travel orientation’ and ‘Interest in foreign languages’ were the main remotivating factors. Many demotivated learners were remotivated by reminding themselves of the original motivation which they had when they first started to learn Korean. Male learners were generally more remotivated than female learners and a negative correlation was also noted between remotivating factors and learners’ Korean competency level. Educators should endeavour to design teaching materials and syllabus that are aligned with learners’ initial learning motivation. It is important to help learners to maximise their opportunities to utilise Korean in their daily lives and give learners an appropriate study load. (ONLYOU Korean Language School)

The purpose of this study is to find out how far the lexical error analysis research has been conducted and what direction should be pursued by analysing Korean language learner’s lexical error analysis research trends. In order to examine the research trend of Korean language learner’s lexical error analysis, the subjects of this study were a total of 138 papers including 103 master’s and doctoral dissertations and 35 papers published in Korean academic journals related to the lexical errors of Korean language learners from 1990 to the present. These were classified by study period, research method, learner’s native language, learner’s level, lexical category, research purpose, and research data type for the review of overall trends. Although lexical categories have been diversified as the number of studies has increased, lexical error analysis studies have tended to decrease in spite of the increasing number of learners in recent years. This study utilizes Back Translation, originally used as one of the methods of verifying quality of translations, to discuss the validity and practicality of reverse translation activities for the purpose of improving learners’ ability to learn languages. It has been revealed through the verification of many scholars that language education through translation is a means of learning both the language of the target language and the culture of the target language at the same time. Back translation allow learners to go through the process of comparing and thinking with their native language and the corresponding learning language, to develop the ability to read and think expanded paragraphs in sentences, and to develop both reading and writing skills simultaneously through creative writing. In addition, through the process of reviewing and discussing with fellow learners, the practicality of each activity process was expected to be effective through the improvement of speaking ability, Therefore, I intend to address the validity and practicality of each process of Back translation through theoretical, practical and specific research. ‘퀴즐렛’ 어휘 학습의 효과성 검증 -학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 대상으로-

The present study aims to investigate the effect that Quizlet vocabulary learning has in terms of improving the vocabulary of Korean language learners. To this end, this study first examined the theoretical background by analyzing previous studies on computer-based vocabulary learning, mobile-based vocabulary learning, and Quizlet vocabulary learning; it then compared the satisfaction level of learners who used the Quizlet vocabulary learning method with that of learners who used conventional methods of vocabulary learning. In addition, this study tested and analyzed the effectiveness of vocabulary learning using computers (or mobile apps) in improving learners’ vocabulary. An instructor delivered the same content, using the same method, to 28 international undergraduate students, who made up the experiment and control groups. To confirm the homogeneity of these two groups, a Korean vocabulary proficiency test was performed as a pre-test. The result of a t-test returned a significance of p<.05 and confirmed that there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. The experiment group utilized Quizlet to learn vocabulary, while the control group used conventional methods of vocabulary learning. Eight rounds of quizzes were then administered to confirm the learners’ performance levels. After the experiment, this study compared the performance levels of the two groups, with the following results: the experiment group achieved higher scores than the control group over all eight rounds of quizzes. Moreover, all the learners in the experiment group expressed a high level of satisfaction and interest in vocabulary learning using Quizlet, which utilizes computers or mobile apps. The present study verified the effectiveness of Quizlet vocabulary learning, which moves beyond conventional vocabulary learning methods, and confirmed the necessity to provide this type of vocabulary learning in language education. This paper focuses on Conjunctive adverbs that includes conjunctive endings, such as geuraeseo, geureona, geureomyeon, ttaraseo, hajiman, etc., and analyzes the relation between conjunctive adverbs and conjunctive endings, so as to systemize conjunctive adverbs’ meaning and functions. This paper, firstly, analyzes the type, constituents and features, through researching dictionaries, linguistic corpus and previously cataloged researches of conjunctive adverbs and conjunctive endings. Secondly, It is based on the forms. This paper discusses the basic meaning of compound-forms. Then, from the perspective of meanings, this paper summarizes the corelation between conjunctive adverbs and conjunctive endings by analyzing the basic meaning of conjunctive adverbs and conjunctive endings. L2의 모음연속체로 지각되는 L1 단모음에 대한 연구

The purpose of the study is to provide empirical data on contrastive analysis by clarifying the acoustic properties of L1(Chinese) and L2(Korean) vowels. In Korean language, the distinction between monophthongs and diphthongs is made by the movement of the articulatory organ; however, some mohophthongs in Chinese are perceived as continua of two vowels by native Korean speakers. In order to verify this phenomenon, the vowel quality of Korean /i, e, a, Λ, o, u, ɨ/ produced by ten Korean speakers were compared with Chinese vowels /i, a, ɤ, o, u, y/ produced by ten advanced chinese learners of Korean. Formant frequencies of L1 and L2 were measured in Hz, and three Korean listeners identified Chinese six vowels. The results showed that Chinese /ɤ/ as perceived as a Korean /ɨ/-/Λ/ continuum in 20% of the total tokens, /o/ as an /o/-/Λ/ continuum in 17% and /y/ as an /i/-/u/ continuum in 10%. This data provides useful implications for L2 phonetics teaching and learning by raising the language researchers’ awareness of these speech sounds. (Daegu Cyber University)
