째어와 탈춤의 비교 -베트남과 한국의 민속전통을 위하여-

The purpose of this paper is to compare the art of Vietnamese Cheo opera with the art of Korean mask dance and from this comparison to identify the similarities between mask dance and Cheo opera. As a student majoring in Korean Studies, while researching Korean culture, especially the art of mask dance, I realized that there are many similar points between the art of Korean mask dance and the art of Vietnamese Cheo opera. First, both of them belong to the genre of traditional drama in Vietnam and Korea. The art of Korean mask dance and the art of Vietnamese Cheo opera have the same method of performance. The stage of mask dance and Cheo opera is a flat yard. When the performance starts, the members of the audience sit around the stage. They enjoy the performance of the performers and also engage in an exchange of their emotions with the performers. This impromptu emotional exchange is a special characteristic of both mask dance and Cheo opera. Formed against a feudal background, both mask dance and Cheo opera have critical and humorous aspects. The objects of criticism are noblemen who are portrayed as being very rich but foolish and ignorant. To illustrate the similarity of these critical and humorous elements in the two dramatic forms, I have chosen two works for comparison, namely, Bongsan talchum (봉산탈춤) representing the mask dance of Korea and Quan am Thi Kinh representing Cheo opera of Vietnam. In Bongsan talchum I have analyzed an extract entitled, “Malttugi wa yangban” (말뚝이와 양반) and in Quan am Thi Kinh, I have analyzed an nature of these two symbolic works is expressed by the same speech structure, namely, an assertive sentence structure to introduce the entrance on the stage of someone an interrogative sentence to express opposition toward something an assertive sentence to explain something and an exclamatory sentence to conclude something. The conflict between the nobleman and the servant ends with the victory of the servant who is poor and in a low social position but sharp and intelligent. I was really surprised by the similarities in these two works. Nowadays, the relationship between Vietnam and Korea has improved. Therefore, such studies as this one are necessary to help people from these two countries understand each other's culture. However, the number of studies in this area is still negligible. I hope that this study, therefore, will make a useful contribution to the field of comparative studies of Korean and Vietnamese culture despite its shortcomings.

한국문화 교육을 위한 ‘은율탈춤’ 스토리텔링 교수법

The purpose of this paper is to present the effective teaching method for Korean culture learners. This is storytelling method on the subject of Korean ‘Unyul mask dance.’ Korean mask dance is the essence of the traditional arts combined song, dance, and play. It can be a good subject for Korean culture education as it is a great cultural heritage containing Korean people’s life, thinking, and feeling. And storytelling teaching method is available for interest, comprehension and participation of learners. The method presented in this paper is a kind of question-answer teaching method on the base of Greimas's narrative scheme. This is effective for a simulative experienced lecture. In case of using the movie file for teaching a mask dance, this method is able to lead learners to amusingly and easily understand the characteristics of Korean culture. Therefore, the storytelling teaching method of ‘Unyul mask dance’ can be contribute to Korean culture education practically. This leads Korean culture leaners to feel, recognize, and understand identification of Korean culture through the entertaining experiences of Korean mask dance.

The purpose of this study is to developing propose for Korean Culture Education. Especially, this study focus on how to have the right viewpoint of the Korean Culture Education. First of all, the major premise of this discussion is a reflection on the Modernism, Progressivism and Nationalism in the recognition about culture. Secondly, we deal with the meaning and problems of the recognition method about the existing cross-culture which are ethnocentrism, cultural relativism, multiculturalism, and education for international understanding in the Era of Globalization. Finally, this study considers the analysis method of the culture difference and the actual strategy of culture education. In conclusion, we need to change our mind about Korean culture education from just contents of culture education itself to ‘how to teach the culture’

This work aims at the study on a discourse topographical map of the humanities crisis and the suggestion of the solution dividing theoretically and industrially. First, we explored theoretically the cause of humanities crisis dividing internal and external factors and industrially the cause of it through the condition of the job market are employed the college graduates who studied humanities. Results are as following: First, the internal factors of the humanities crisis are the humanities’ subjectivity, the humanities scholar’s responsibility, the response of the humanities academy circle, and the humanities’ lectures and its academic program. The external factors are the change of the government’s education policy in operation and our sense of values and humanistic environment. Second, for we explored the condition of the job market are employed the college graduates who studied humanities. The result show a ratio of the lowest in wage, the percentage of employment, the percentage of regular job, an annual revenue, and the relation of the major. Second, we explored he suggestion of the solution dividing theoretical and industrial. Theoretically, we categorized the suggestions. There are the finding of humanities’ subjectivity, the suggestion of education direction, the discussion of representation humanities, making humanities contents, the supprort of policies in government, building a new paradigm through cross-studies, the conversion of Culture Science, and the advent of ecology humanities. Industrially, we categorized the suggestions of humanities’ crisis. The suggestion is developing a new job-creation.

한국 언어문화 교육에 대한 비판적 고찰

The purpose of this study is to conceder critically a Language-Culture education in Korean as a foreign language. The Korean language education has been developed based on the communicative competence. Communicative competence may mean to be able to understand the culture of target language. We intend to conceder critically a Language-Culture education in Korean language and Korean culture education. Korean ‘Language-Culture’ education has been coined for the study of the interrelation of Korean language and Korean culture education. ‘Language-Culture’ have been explained to restricted area of Korean language education or inclusive area of Korean culture language, and new academical area as a fusion of Korean language and Korean culture. On the other hand, area of ‘Language-Culture’ was not set up. Opinions of researchers regarding concept of ‘Language-Culture’ and items of Language-culture education were different. I propose that ‘Language-Culture’ is not interrelation area on contents of Korean language and Korean culture education but strategy on a pedagogics.

외국인 유학생의 문화적 문식성(literacy) 격차 해소 방안

There are many students who have difficulty in taking a lesson. It is not just because of professor’s pronunciation, his high speed utterance. It is mainly because of cultural literacy gap. Korea students have been studied for 20 years. During their growth, they learn culture in school or from their family, their groups. It learned from experience. However, in case of foreign students, it is not sufficient to get perfect cultural knowledge and experience. Needless to say, the reasons are lack of experience, though they have experience to read a book about korea, to have a travel all over the country, to eat korea food, to see something related to korea. So, this paper aims to make some suggestions for the solving of cultural literacy gap between korean students and foreign students who are in college in University, not in language institute. I suggest, it’s desirable way to solve this problem is the content of korea educational curriculum be reflected in language course curriculum.

This thesis aims to make clear the different meaning of five synonyms which are ‘부끄럽다(buggrubda), 창피하다(changpihada), 수줍다 (sujubda), 쑥스럽다(sshukssrubda), 수치스럽다(suchisrubda).’ This study examines the sentences which the words ‘부끄럽다, 창피하다, 수줍다, 수치스럽다, 쑥스럽다.’ are used; that is, when and in which situation people use these words. ‘부끄럽다’ is widely used in both positive and negative situations. ‘창피하다’ is mostly used in negative situations and expresses external shame. It is related to the thinking of others and negative behavior of a doer. Also ‘수치스럽다’ is used in negative situation but it expresses internal shame. It is related to the thinking of a doer and damage of one's personality, honor, and a social position. ‘수줍다’, ‘쑥스럽다’ are used in positive situations and they are related to the person’s attitude and behavior. ‘수줍다’ is used to reveal the person’s character and it needs durability(a long time). On the other hand ‘쑥스럽다’ expresses the emotions of the moment. And it presupposes positive effects or results of a doer. But ‘수줍다’ is not. This thesis shows an effective order of those five words by stage and effective teaching methods when teachers instruct those words to Korean language learners who want to know the differences of the words and use the words in proper situations. words and use words properly the situations.

This study aims at establishing the criteria for analyzing level 4 KFL reading textbooks. To this end, the study examines the objectives of the current curricula of the college-affiliated Korean language programs and the requisites to pass level 4 of the Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK). The study also scrutinizes the necessary conditions for level 4 KFL reading textbooks through a review of the various literatures, and, based on this literature review, it develops a model for analyzing level 4 KFL reading textbooks. The constituents that should be considered for level 4 KFL reading books are as follows: first, in terms of the text, the text content (theme), the type of the text (genre), readability, the degree of authenticity, and the presentation style are selected as elements for analysis. Second, in terms of the reading activities and strategies, the activities that are performed in the pre-reading stage, the in-reading stage, and the after-reading stage, as well as the strategies that can be acquired through the activities in all these stages are proposed.

This study is to suggest that business Korean textbooks for intermediate learners need to be developed for foreign learners in business areas. As Korean economy grows, the number of foreign manpower in korean companies is on the increase. They are from Japan, India, Russia and so forth. However, most of current Korean textbooks do not respond to what foreign manpower really wants. Korean language learners in business area desire to learn Korean for not only daily expressions but also smooth conversation with their colleagues. Korean language textbooks for business should include situations that learners might encounter in real business life. This thesis deals with how business Korean language textbooks can effectively developed.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the Korean textbook Learn Korean on Your Own 1~4 to understand the North Korean approach to teaching Korean as a foreign language. The textbook has been written for English speaking learners. In summary, this text is a helpful grammar textbook and reference for adult students using a self-study methodology. It explains Korean grammatical items in a detailed and systematic manner, providing numerous examples and tables. To illustrate the different Korean speech levels, it also helpfully uses pictures and arrows to graphically represent the correct speech level. However, it has several weaknesses that distract from its effectiveness. It makes unnecessary use of technical terms. For a self-study grammar textbook, easy-to-understand terms would be preferable. And it uses a romanized guide to pronunciation which is confusing. With regard to vocabulary, it is arranged in order of sino-Korean words, native Korean words, and loan words. And it uses propaganda-like example sentences and written style. A grammar textbook should employ a contrastive analysis with the student's native language, use easy-to-understand terminology and provide helpful practice activities.
