Bek-seok is a poet who created various kinds of form of poetry and technic. He wrote a poem that use a image in simple form, a lyric that took of folk song and its rhythm, and a new romantic lyric. He used special poetry form by using repeating and enumeration to narrate the traditional world. Bek-seok`s well done thing is of expressing various kinds of poetry and its world. Among them, the most important personality is Bek-seok`s poetry expresses traditional life 재강 by unique expressions and its forms. The purpose of this thesis is to research the aesthetic of the Pansori in the Bek-seok`s poetry. I would like to compare special expressing form and genre of Bek-seok`s poetry with the Pansori will make sure the characteristic of the Bek-seok`s poetry. The most unique expression of Bek-seok`s poetry is that it uses words or sentences continuously that has similar meanings and arrange them long. Bek-seok`s poetry uses repeats and arranges and these expression methods show the meanings and feeling of the poetry lively. These expression methods are very similar with the methods of Pansori. Bek-seok`s poetry continues verse and prose periodically and has a rule in telling them. These rhythm form is similar with the Pansori`s structure Pansori continues "chang" which is sang by verse, and "aniri" that is narrated by prose. Bak-seok`s poetry narrates the situation in prose and express detailed description in verse, too. Also, that prose is expressed in repeating and enumeration, jrst like Pansori. Thus, in Bak-seok`s poetry, parts that are expressed in prose is similar to Pansori`s "aniri" and the part expressed in verse is likely to Pansori`s "chang". It expresses the meaning of the poetry and feeling lively through these special rhythm systems, The Bek-suk`s poetry genre is very unique. His poetry has "epic characteristic", but he doesn`t use plot. Each scenes are expanded and each of them make a story. These unique "narrative poem" is just like Pansori style. Bek-seok`s poetry didn`t just use this special form in repeating`s and enumeration`s long literary style, but by using in narrating and describing simply, he discovered a very unique style of his poetry.

It seems that such a narrative text does not essentially exist as composed of information, images, and symbols that are being absorbed into an integral centripetal point in interpretation. This world is seem as a massive illegible test and `Ecriture`, fragments of the huge test that have been put in a particular narrative test, is not merely a metonomy but also a metaphor, making the world in the test an obscure and distorted being. Among several kinds of narratives, an film narrative basically abounds in such symbolic factors that attracting spectators by diverging from the centripetal point and so the channel through which text interpreters communicate with the text cannot help being extremely complicated and overlapped. This is because images and information far more diversified than ordinary narrative stimulates us. - visual images created by camera angles, acoustic images carried by sound effects and background music, linguistic messages transmited by dialogues or narration of the characters and so forth - stimulate us. The objective of this research was to inquire into the communication codes of the movie `Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon` on the premise that a narrative text cannot but be multiple in voice. The movie `Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon` very rarely broke as a martial arts film the existing foreign move running record in the United States, won four Academy Awards, being an image text that had captivated the minds of American spectators. But there is a dissatisfied factor in explaining the popular sympathy of thi film merely from the perspective that it contains a lot of culturally heterogeneous factors and that it was created through the hand of director Lee ang. This is because there are not a few martial arts image narratives or texts by director Lee ang which have been looked away from American spectators. The writer of this research sees that one of the most significant factors that mediate popular communication in this movie is not the commonplace complications structure or ideology in which an exterior narrative is played as a foreground but the beauty of curves created by images and information alienated from the exterior narrative. Our civilization assumes linear forms when seen from a geometrical point of view. For example, linearly stretched streets, apartments in squares with streets, straight line currency and credit cards that have daily values. It is evident, however, that the geometry of nature is not a straight line but a curve. For example, crouching fetuses in the womb, winding ridges, curved branches, swinging leaves. Although we are pressed by the linear geometry, we are beings initially kept away from the world of these curves. Thereupon, we cannot help sensitively respoinding to the curves. Inasmuch as it is filled with numerous images of curves that stimulate the world of unconsciousness, the movie `Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon` came to win applause from the public. The duel scenes in a bamboo forest between Rimubai and Zhang ziyi may be said to be the ideal beauty of curves. With their bodily movements flying like a bird or a butterfly, the viewers feel the living rhythm of the cosmos. Furthermore, the characters in this movie show from start to finish bodily movements flying in a parabolic form. The mountainous hill at Northwest China where central characters whisper love each other is viewed as round like a parabola. What Zhang ziyi gives Chang chen as a token of unchanging love is a round comb. In the title "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, the writer of the research sees a curve from the soft back of the tiger and the body of the dragon curved in an elliptical form. Needless to say again, geometry is a reflection of the world vies. We who are pressed by a linear world view and linear geometry that emphasize arrival at the destination within the shortest time, taste a catharsis by being kept away from the liner world view amid numerous curves in the movie `Crouching Tiger,

In this paper, I tried to investigate the characteristic of a ‘Aristoteles-cho^n(亞里斯多得里傳)’ written in the Korean enlightenment period. I mainly focused on the usage of the word, `Literature` in the writings from the late nineteenth centure to the beginning of 1900 and in this works, and the specific narration method. The narration method of `Aristoteles-cho^n(亞里斯多得里傳)` indicates the fact that a "cho^n" became a very long story in the enlightenment period, especially by using the specific way of narration that could be abbreviated as showing facts and giving comments on them. A "Cho^n" had changed to be long not only because it was affected by the Western biography but also because the narration method of "Cho^n" had changed like above. In addition, `Aristoteles-cho^n(亞里斯多得里傳)‘ reflects the affection of a historical biography of the enlightenment period on the formation of a modern historical novel.

Ever since making his debut with 「패배자의 소원(A Hope Of A Loser)」(1935) in the Journal『Shinin-munhak』, Lee Yong-ak worte a lot of poem and remains really active in his creative work. His works on the whole poeticized the kernel situation of his times through the impoverished conditions of rural communities under coercive Japanese imperial rule and the consequent people`s nomadism This paper aims to consider the "Road" motif as the coherent relation and the literary convention in Lee Yong-ak`s poetic system. Cnsidering this problem, this paper seek the meaning of Road by literary immanent methods, and search of symbolism and paths in the Road. The Road is a search for self-identity by problematic character as poetic speaker, and for self-consciousness in a world degraded. This symbolism develops two paths in Lee Yong-ak`s poetry, one path to the South, another to the north. It is homology between Lee Yong-ak`s life and the path of Road in his poetry. Also the meaning of are changed in his historical environment.

The purpose of this essay is to examine the distinctive features and topographical locus of Mieke Bal`s theory of narrative. This theory has significance in respect that it is the representative of the narratology inclined to the critical text theory. It has heterogeneous intentions to typology and interpretation, to structure and criticism, and to general principles and peculiarities of the various narrative texts As for Miekd Bal, methods of narratology is the tools of ideological and aesthetic criticism. In this essay, I explained Mieke Bal`s basic standpoints to the written narratives and literature. I also gave attentions to the peculiarities in Mieke Bal`s terms: for examples fabula, story, text. Because of creative uses of these terms, it is necessary to prescribe conception of them correctly. For that reason, I compared Mieke Bal`s terms with other narrative theorist`s. Ge`rard Genette and Shlomith Rimmon-Kenan etc. The distinctive features of Mieke Bal`s theory of narrative show themselves in discussions on character, focalization, and narrator. I illustrated these parts by examples concretely. This study, I think, could make clear significance, limits, and the possibility of effective applications in Mieke Bal`s theory of narrative.

This thesis aims to look into the need and way of research on regional literature. Modern humanistics in Korea require new regional recognition considering 3 situations that are the colonial experience of the past, anticommunism, and the digital revolution. The new recognition would be regional centripetalism, ideological pluralism, and indisciplinery dialogism. The research of regional lierature show new approaches based on 4 categories, a writer, a p개duct, a reader, and a researcher. First, a writer can be studied, differently from the point of view of nationalism, with seeking non-elite literary men, concerning minor writers, and studing writers three-dimensionally. Next, the ways of approaching to a product can show findings on surrounding discourse and opened imagination about adjacent branch-test as well as excluded products at the truce and location-literature that devotes to form regional images. Third, the manner of approaching to a reader can meet the demands of readers Readers` society as well as literary education and administration would be studied concretely. Thus, the research on regional lieterature have lots of group advantages. Finally, a researcher can have an academic courage to challenge the discourse of main current and to form the region. Therefore, it is possible to spread altruistic attitude that took root in life-world. The research on regional literature is the beginning method for the first time in the study of modern literature. It is an important and new method to restore the richness of Korean literature. Thus, more interests are required in the research of regional literature.

This study is focused on linguistic aspects of Honbul. Its purpose is to examine how narration structures and linguistic strategies and linguistic strategies are correlated with each other. They say that Honbul is treasure-house of our mother tongue. This study shows what the concrete basis of the above belief is. The belief proves true because Honbul has abundant vocabulary and excellent realistic description and narrative manners. The writer utilizes such descriptive methods as the levels of sounds, sentences, and expressions. The levels of sounds referring to sounds and phonemes go far toward musicality of Honbul. They are accomplished through prolongation of sounds. Linguistic strategies for the ones of sentences are represented through structures of sentences. Characters` psychologically complicated states of mind are expressed by making sentences complex ones. Narration is developed dynamically by using suitable combination of simple and complex sentences. The selective use of two kinds of sentences is made on the basis of personalities of characters. The sentences tend to become long by adding plenty of modifiers. The levels of linguistic expression make the work sensible and imageable. They reflect the writer`s intention and her recognition attitude toward things. Her great originality is expressed through them. Frequent insertion and enumeration of episodes may be considered to be bad points, but they make the sentences vivid through their sensibility and imageability. That leads to lyricism of the work. Narration structures of Honbul deal with love affairs of Gangmo and Gangsil, confrontation of social status of Yangban and lowly people, and Gangtae`s thought problems. The spaces of place, time, culture, and thought foum the focus of spaces in Honbul. The spaces of place are Namwon, Jeonju in Korea, and Bongcheon in China. The ones of time are periods of Baekje, post-Baekje, Barhae, and Chosun. The spaces of culture and art are folk ballads, Muga, Chinese poetry, sijos, and letters. The ones of thought and art are YinYang and five elements, the Four Devas, marriage ceremonies, and memorial ceremonies. The appropriate combination of narration structures and linguistic strategies contribute to make Honbul lyrical, visual, and imageable.

Parody is conversational action that appears in the co-relations between original test and parodied text, and it is strained relations of structure that connects present and past. I will summarize this manuscript in brief. First, `To Find Out The Horse`, which is parodied [Buckwheat Blossom Time] from an imitative point of view, pursues serious search for self through the experiences of boyhood. This work is similar to creation background that is imitated, story of relations between father and son, symbolic motive of a donkey and a mule. Compared to sensuous style and the poetic mood of polished language, it is more concise and realistic style, so it shows the touching live of stepfather in the conflict which appears between a stepfather and s adopted son. Second, `The Wings of Lee Sang` criticizes realities, and it parodied `The Wings` from a critic point of view through the spatial background, character of a hero, symbolism of figure, and the stream of consciousness. The fantastical style of this work is intentional device to satirize all aspects of realities, although it is an absurd story that will one consciousness, which bring up the image of the steam of consciousness, should overcome the pain on talking each other and criticizing an absurd reality.

Character is one of the most important components in a novel. Novel is different from drama in that it bring out the totality of objects while drama the totality of movement. Despite the importance of characters in novel, the actual description of characters, compared with drama, is usually subsidiary and peripheral. We can find in Yeom Sang-seop`s Three Generations one of the representing examples that illustrate this characteristic of novel. Cho Deok-ki, the main character in Three Generations, is well known for his irresolute character. There is a reason why he is described as an irresolute person. It is due to his in-between position between Cho Ui-gwan who represents the old conservative generation and Kim Byeong-hwa, the new radical generation. If it tis true that a novel is intended to bring out the whole aspect of reality and the process of its transformation, it will be legitimate to say that irresolute Cho Deok-ki, who symbolizes the diverging point between the old and new generations, is a typical character in the genre of novel. In conclusion, the peculiarity of novel lies in the fact that the typical characteristics are to be presented not just in a character but also in the environment. Considering the title of the work, Three Generations, we might say that Cho Sang-hun, who is not introduced at the beginning and turns out to be a degenerated and incompetent person, plays little role in the novel. In the light ot this fact, it is problematic the fact that Part 2 of the novel, where Cho Sang-hun becomes the focus of events, is disintegrated in structure. It is a structural breakdown due to the loss of the central axis. The absence of Cho Doek-ki`s character affects the whole structure of the novel. We can also relate the protagonist Cho Doek-ki`s character to the author Yeom Sang-seop`s middle-class conservatism. The middle-class conservatism that refuses the change or reform of reality and supports maintaining the status quo contributes to stabilizing the whole structure of the work. When we read closely Three Generations in terms of the interaction among characters, we find os much conflic and trickery but no real villain. This is confirmed in the fact that Cho Doek-ki never shows any kind of affection or hatred for any other character in the novel. In the midst of conflict and fight for inheritance, all Cho Deok-ki does is to observe composedly from a distance, understanding the truth of our life. This is what stabilizes the structure of the novel and makes Three Generations to be a masterpiece of the realism.

This thesis sees through Park-Young-Hee`s novel and criticism with the conversion and pro-Japanese after the latter half of 1930`s. Above all, conversion is not mere matter, and the general thought-regeneration. And the term of conversion is not given to us. At this point this thesis sees through his manifesto, his novel 「Light and Darkness」, a note 「A cell」. And furthermore inner crack-shape of his national literature-theory in the period of new-system. His manifesto of conversion focuses art instead of ideology. But「Light and Darkness」shows the point of resistance to it. A proposition, `I ought not to be failed` is that. Moreover the work was published in the period of the national literature-theory. At this point the mentality of a convert is never simple. Especially「A Single Room」emphasizes the class-ideology. The reason why a head of criticism and work ought to be considered in the study of conversion-literature. But his criticism confronts with the great turnover in the period of new-system. Above all deflection is in existence among his works. The national literature-theory of his is based on the mere dichotomy. Besides the dichotomy as `ideology/arts` `material/soul` `the western individualism/the oriental Japanese-spirits` are in existence. Really, 「A Single Room」emphasizes the dialectical thought. But his national literature-theory does not considers the mutual interrelation. The assertion that an individual must be broken to the state is merely repeated. Because he does not raise a question to the political structure in a new-system. Especially the national literature-theory and the objective literature-theory coexist, At this point we must not understand conversion and pro-Japanese plainly.
