This paper examines education of Novel and the horizon of `the Others` focus on the Hwang, Seok-yung` novels, especially (오래된 정원) and (손님). This paper examines issues concerning both novel education and the horizon of `the Others`, with its focus on Hwang, Seok-yung`s novels, especially and . Meanwhiles, the education of Novel is conducted centering around the subject and the subjectivity. Therefore, we set aside the others and fall into self-righteousness, With respect to novel education, so far, more attentions have been drawn into the subject and subjectivity, which may lead us to be blind to others and feel self-righteous. Correct this attitude, we should concerned about the Others in process of novel education. This paper argues that the Others should be concerned in novel education so that we can broaden our perspectives. Hwang. self-examines as a point of the outsider view about the past l980`, witch the time of social storm. Hwang in , Hwang sees the Shin-Cheon Massacre from a neutral point of view without taking sides for neither South nor North. Hwang believes that the Shin-Cheon Massacre was caused by the immature subjects who had let their minds go to the extreme. The same effort as in Hwang should be made with respect to novel education. What a novel presents is an objectified subject. Likewise, novel education should help understand and communicate with others so that an individual student will be able to grow into a positive subject in the society of diversity. Our future might be decided by those who open their ears to others without being self-indulged, not by those who are self-centered and self-righteous as Dong-Hyuk in .
