본 연구에서는 2015 문.이과 통합형 고등학교 국어과 교육과정으로의 개정 과정에서 요구되는 핵심 역량의 반영 방안을 살피고 통합형 교육과정 구성에 대한 시사점을 탐색하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 미국의 CCSS와 이를 주 단위 교육과정으로 구성한 뉴욕 주의 P-12 공통 핵심 학습 성취 기준(New York State P-12 Common Core Learning Standards for English Language Arts & Literacy)을 토대로 자국어 교육과정을 분석하였다. 이와 연계하여 뉴욕 주 브롱크스(Bronx) 시에 소재한 American Studies at Lehman College 고등학교의 자국어 교육과정을 분석을 통해 실제적인 자국어 교육과정의 운영 사례를 살펴보았다. 이러한 분석 결과를 토대로 하여 2015 문.이과 통합형 고등학교 국어과 교육과정 구성에 대한 유의한 시사점을 도출하고 구성 방안에 대하여 고찰하였다.

The purpose of this article is to explore design methods of 2015 combined liberal arts and natural sciences curriculum of korean language arts for high school. For 2015 curriculum reform, it should be considered how to reflect 21st core competency in language arts curriculum and how to combined liberal arts and natural sciences effectively. The study examined CCSS, New York State P-12 common core learning standards for english language arts & literacy and english curriculums of the high school of american studies at Lehman College in BRONX, NY. Those curriculums emphasized 1) new literacies required in various media environment, 2) arguments, research, inquiry for implement literacy skills across all content areas, 3) essential language rules, Conventions and effective usage for successful communication, not complex grammar and acquiring new vocabulary, particularly general academic and domain- specific words and phrases.
