영어 및 일본어 원어민 한국어 학습자의 초분절 요소에 의한 유창성 평가 비교 연구

Both of advanced- and beginning- native English and Japanese learners of Korean took part in the L2 acquisition experiment. After thirty-eight L2 subjects` speech was assessed based on twenty Korean listeners` judgment, suprasegmental measurement for Korean speaking was analyzed. The results show that (1) L2 developmental patterns of suprasegmentals clearly have been influenced by L1 system, and (2) Each suprasegmental cue has different cue weight in fluency decision. Generally Japanese learners of Korean easily acquire Korean prosody, but the difference of fluency between the two advanced groups decreased. Also statistical regression analysis show that speech rate is the most powerful explanation cue in the fluency judgment, but the F0 range shows the least. (Seoul National University)

The purpose of this article is discussing structural alternatives of CALP units in Korean language textbooks. Multicultural students can naturally acquire basic interpersonal and communicative skills(BICS) relatively short time while, in many cases, they cannot reach required Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency(CALP) for each grade-level. Thus, it is very urgent to develop textbooks that can help improving their CALP level. In this article, I develop CALP units for the middle level elementary school textbooks by resorting to CALLA model. In addition to that, I suggest example of CALP units in connection with 3rd grader social study textbook. (Korea University)

This paper aims to examine the validity on standards of classification for questions which were proposed by Long & Sato(1983). According to Long & Sato (1983), referential questions are asked to get information from students(which implies a teacher doesn`t know a student s answer), and display questions(evaluative question) are asked to establish the student`s knowledge of an answer.(which implies a teacher already knows the correct answer.) To examine these standards, I analyze the frame of classroom conversations. The analysis shows that a frame shift from a general classroom conversation frame to a dramatization frame occurs often. Dramatization frame is used to make the conversation between teacher and student as a scene, thus creating a pedagogical theme. In dramatization frame, teacher and student havea conversation as a real self and they have a dramaturgical role in the scene at the same time. In dramatization frame, a teacher doesn`t know a students` answer and the teacher expects proper answers fitted into the scene. In dramatization frame, teacher`s questions cannot be categorized as referential questions but also display questions. It implies that the line between referential questions and display questions is blurred. The results of this study can contribute to set new standards of classification for questions. 학문 목적을 위한 한국어와 영어의 연구 경향 비교 분석

What are the key research trends in KAP and EAP? With this research question in mind, this article aims to review and compare the research trends in the two disciplines. In doing so, this article performs a qualitative research synthesis of the relevant studies in major domestic journals (e.g., Bilingual Research, Journal of Korean Language Education, Korean Journal of Applied Linguistics) from 2002 to 2011. A total number of 83 research articles in KAP, published during this period, were classified and coded according to an analytic framework in terms of (1) research scope, (2) objects of research, (3) research topics, and (4) research methods. The KAP results were compared with the EAP results based on an analysis of a total number of 166 research articles in EAP published during the same period. The results show that the research trends in KAP and EAP have similarities in some respects including the research scope and research topics addressed. Suggestions for future research were made. The aim of this study was to extend the Yoon & Kim(2011)`s perception study to three new groups of subjects: Koreans who speak Standard Korean(KS), speakers who use a Daegu(KD) dialect, and Chinese learners of Korean residing in Daegu(CD). This paper examines whether listeners perceive a different level of politeness (on a 9-point scale) when the duration of the Korean sentence final auxiliary particle -yo is varied. The stimuli were manipulated by lengthening and shortening ``-yo`` by ±30%. A noteworthy feature of Yoon & Kim(2011) s study was that the participants perceived decreased politeness as the duration of -yo was shortened and increased politeness as it was lengthened. It, however, was found in this study that both Korean and Chinese listeners living in the Daegu area did not perceive a different level of politeness from the manipulated sentences. In addition, this study demonstrated that the perception of the duration of ``-yo`` by L2 learners were consistent with their dialectal region; in other words, the sensitivity to the durational change was relatively low for the Chinese speakers residing in Daegu compared to the Chinese speakers residing in Seoul. Finally, regardless of nationality, the responses to the degree of politeness varied depending on the gender of the listener and the type of sentence; (1) Female speakers perceived a higher degree of politeness than male

한국어와 독일어 미각형용사의 의미 대조 연구

The aim of this paper is to compare the meanings of taste adjectives in Korean and German. Taste adjectives are closely related to the common human sense. However, at the same time, they are concerned with the food life of speakers in a speech community. Therefore, it can be assumed that the meaning expressions of taste adjectives in individual languages may reflect the own characteristics of the culture and language of a speech community. On the basis of this assumption, this paper observes the various aspects of the meanings of taste adjectives in Korean and German, according to 6 basic tastes, i. e. sweet-taste, sour-taste, salty-taste, bitter-taste, hot-taste, astringent-taste. Particularly, the aspects of the meaning shift and meaning extension are examined in priority. First, in the chapter 2, the morphological and semantic characteristics of taste adjectives in Korean and German are briefly surveyed, and the various meaning expressions of taste adjectives are closely observed with concrete examples in two languages. 확장형 읽기를 활용한 한국어 읽기 수업의 효과 분석 -학문 목적 학습자를 대상으로-

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of reading class using extensive reading. Recently, advanced learners who study Korean language to go on to university or graduate school have increased. These learners should read Korean texts fast after they go on to university or graduate school. In such situation, reading fluency is required for the learners. This study considered extensive reading is appropriate as a way to improve reading fluency of the learners. Extensive reading class is characterized by encouraging learners to read a variety of texts pleasantly and on their own initiative. In extensive reading class, learners practice to focus on reading fast while understanding the whole context of article rather than obsess over word or grammar. This study verified whether extensive reading class can improve reading fluency of the learners by carefully observing reading class for advanced learners who were exchange students over 4 months. The learners participated actively in selecting texts to be used in their class and cooperated with each other to enhance understanding of text through small group activities. As a result, most of the learners get better grades in the final exam compared with the level test that was given at the beginning of the term. (Korea University)

한국어 강의 담화에 나타난 강조 발화의 특성

``Listening lecture `` is not only one of the most important skills for Korean learners with academic purposes to succeed in studying in Korean universities, but accounts for the biggest portion in their successful academic achievement as well. Thus, it is vital to teach foreign students strategies to listen lectures efficiently. Out of various strategies for listening lectures, the most important strategy is how to distinguish what is important from what is not. The meaningful part of a lecture appears with the lecturer`s emphasized utterances and the way to emphasize important parts could be universal in language, however, there are still different features in each language. However, there hasn`t been any studies on the features of emphasized utterances in Korean. This study recorded actual lectures in Korean, analyzed the features of emphasized utterances, and then classified them according to the types in order to develop a teaching method in ``distinguishing emphasized utterances``, one of the essential strategies in listening lectures for the learners with academic purposes. The results show that there are two types of emphasis in Korean emphasized utterances: One is depending on the lexical, syntactic devices including using discourse markers, repetition of core contents, using antithesis, questioning, expressing core contents like proposition, and the other is due to the phonetic realization including speaking with accent, slowing the utterance speed, putting pause before or after important contents. 러시아의 학습사전 연구의 특징

This paper examines characteristics of studies of learner`s dictionary in the Soviet Union and independent Russia. The term uchebnyj slovar` was first used in bilingual dictionary. It is widely accepted that uchebnyj slovar`s are designed for beginners, not for advanced learners. As a result, learner`s dictionary and uchebnyj slovar` differ in size, expected user, goals and so on. The author also tries to define the origin of the terms active dictionary and passive dictionary from the works of Lev Shcherba and the trend in studying of uchebnyj slovar` after Shcherba. 사회통합프로그램 한국어 교육의 확대 실시 방안 연구

It has been almost four years since Korean government implemented KIIP(Korea Immigration Integration Program). KIIP is one of concrete alternatives for social integration policy. It mainly consists of Korean language education and education for Korean society understanding. There has been noticeable increase in the number of participants and the educational expertise has been secured. But KIIP has some problems which are due to the fact that the variables of participants are not diversified and level 3 and 4 of KIIP are not applied to marriage immigrants yet. This thesis evaluates these problems and suggests some ways to expand KIIP. It proposes that the marriage immigrants should be required to complete level 3 and 4 of KIIP. And it also suggests some ways to diversify the participants. This thesis suggests a way of positive change of KIIP as a successful policy. (Sangmyung University)
