해외 거주 한국어 초급 학습자 대상 한국 문화 교육 방안 연구

This Study aims to suggest the way that Korean teachers in outside of Korea teach Korean culture to their students whose proficiency in Korean language is beginner. Language and Culture are not separately taught because of its inextricable relations. However, the objective of culture teaching has been subordinated under the language teaching. Korean learners who learn Korean language outside of Korea are fascinated by Korean culture, but their Korean language proficiency is not high enough to learn Korean Culture using Korean as a medium of instruction. However culture education materials which include comparison between target culture and learners` own culture are developed for advanced learners. Therefore this study suggests tasks which enable beginners to participate the process of selection of culture contents for culture education and analysis on Korean culture and comparison of Korean and their own culture. These tasks could enhance learners` perspectives on culture and language as well as Korean culture.

"세종한국어 1~8"의 교수요목 설계 및 단원 구성 방안

This study aims to highlight that the syllabus design and curriculum development of ‘Sejong Korean 1~8’, the textbook developed for King Sejong Institute from 2011-13. ‘Sejong Korean 1~8’ corresponds to the "Common Framework of Reference for Korean Language Education and Evaluation Level 1 to 4". The contents for ‘Sejong Korean 1~8’ are selected from teaching material within the framework and is essential to the education of King Sejong Institute. Then, the items are readjusted to reflect the needs of the teachers at the institute. The syllabus design of ‘Sejong Korean 1~8’ takes an eclectic approach, which fundamentally aims to promote communicative competence as well as linguistic components, such as grammar and vocabulary. The following are the components of lesson for ‘Sejong Korean 1~8’: An introductory picture and question, teaching goal, extensions of vocabulary, dialogue 1 and 2, vocabulary, grammar, practice 1 and 2, listening and speaking, reading and writing, new vocabulary, and self evaluation. As ‘Sejong Korean 5~8’ focuses on the increasing importance of vocabulary, an extension of vocabulary is included as a new component of the lessons.

문장 생성 능력 향상을 위한 한국어 문장 교육 내용 연구

This study aims to suggest contents of Korean sentence education for foreigners through analysis of Korean language textbook and learners` sentence level errors in their written texts. Hitherto, Korean sentence education for foreigners has been focused on grammatical units that can be used at firsthand in real-life communication. When producing complex sentence which more than one proposition, however, not only form and meaning of grammatical units but also measuring the importance of propositions, arranging and combining propositions according to writer`s intention should be considered. In accordance with the view of functional grammar, in this study, we define sentence as a information structure that one or more propositions are structured by intention of writer and suggest contents of Korean sentence education as follow : construction of information structure(how to judge which is a main proposition, how to compose and combine propositions depends on importance), proposition composition(word order, basic sentence structure, and argument structure) and proposition combination(meaning of grammatical units which function as a connector when combine propositions.

대단위 한국어 수업을 위한 역진행 수업 (flipped classroom) 모형 개발 연구

The paper is aimed to conduct research on characteristics of Korean language education carried out in university undergraduate and to suggest the most appropriate teaching model for those classes. Even though there is an increased number of Korean classes at university level, a limited number of research has taken in terms of teaching methods. As a result, the paper examined the status of communicative Korean language classes at university and suggested a teaching method based on characteristics of those Korean classes. The researcher developed and applied teaching technique model by using formative research and modified the model according to those problems occurred during the application stage. In conclusion, the study stated that flipped classroom is the most appropriate teaching technique that is applicable at university level. In addition, the research suggested some considerations can be taken in advance of applying those teaching techniques. Therefore, the future research about developing teaching method based on the characteristics of the class will be required in terms of managing Korean language classroom.

문화향유목적 한국어 학습자를 위한 모바일 학습(Mobile-Learning) 연구

Recently, the purposes of Korean language learning tends to diversify. Within the diversity, we take note of a group which is difficult to unify and suggest the educational aim, method and material. In this paper, we suggest calling this group as “Korean language learners with the purpose of savoring Korean culture”. As for this learning group, Korean language is considered as an enjoyable culture or a method to enjoy other Korean culture. We assert that adequate educational contexts and methods should be suggested based on variables. This study is based on the idea that mobile-learning can maximize the effect of savoring culture by utilizing its edutainment function, and thereby suggests the method of mobile-learning which makes use of Role Playing Game application as edutainment for “Korean learners with purpose of savoring Korean culture”.

Rasch 모형을 통한 대학생의 이문화 적응 태도 분석

The objective of this study was to investigate Korean college students` perceptions and attitudes about coping with hypothetical multi-cultural situations, applying the Rasch measurement modeling. A secondary objective was to examine the construct validity and reliability of the instrument developed for measuring cross-cultural adaptability. A sample of 120 undergraduate students at a large university was asked to respond to the 20 item Likert-type questionnaire concerning their perceptions of possible steps they would take, given the hypothetical multi-cultural situations. The results showed the instrument measured the construct of cross-cultural adaptability with 4 subscales: respect and attention for different cultures, positive acceptance of some aspects of foreign cultures, objective recognition of one`s attitudes towards foreign cultures, and empathy towards foreign cultures. In particular, the results indicated that the subjects needed to be more self-aware of various multi-cultural aspects and more empathetic to multi-culturalism beyond their baseline respect and interest in multi-culturalism. The principal implication of this study is that educational institutions including Korean colleges should provide educational programs to help college students shift from basic levels of simple understanding of multi-culturalism to higher levels of multi-cultural empathy.

영어권 교포 학습자의 한국어 격조사 처리에 관한 ERP 연구

This study investigates the processing of case markers in Korean using Event Related Potentials (ERPs) with a picture-sentence verification task. An experiment was conducted with 13 heritage speakers of Korean from English-speaking countries and 18 native speakers of Korean. There were three conditions: an agent semantic incongruence condition, a patient semantic incongruence condition and a syntactic violation condition. The results revealed (i) that different ERP components were elicited between heritage speakers and native speakers, (ii) that N400s were elicited for semantic incongruence conditions for heritage speakers (at the onset of verbs for agent incongruence and at the onset of case markers for patient incongruence) whereas P600s were elicited for native speakers (at the onset of case markers for agent incongruence and at the onset of voice marker positions for patient incongruence), and (iii) that P600s were elicited for syntactic violation condition for both groups. The findings were interpreted in such way that heritage speakers` processing of case markers is different from native speakers` probably due to their incomplete acquisition of case markers and related syntactic features such as voice morphology.

말하기 전략 개발을 위한 과제 구성 방안

As teaching a foreign language moves from product-oriented to process-oriented, developing communication strategies for the learners becomes by far essential. There is various factors that is impossible to expect in the communicative situations in real life, the learners cannot help but experience a variety of difficulties due to their lack of grammatical, discourse, sociolinguistic and cultural knowledge about the target language. As of this, to overcome those troubles in various communicative situations of real life and to communicate in a effective and efficient way, the lesson should be run for the learners to develop the communicative strategies. In the field of teaching a foreign language, the necessity of developing learners` communicative strategies is fully recognized and the researchers try their best to carry it out. Most Korean materials developed these days contain the activities to develop the learners` strategies in three steps of a pre-task, task, and post-task. However, those in speaking tasks of Korean materials are limited in a few of strategy developing activities such as planning the contents of speaking beforehand or assessing other classmates` speaking. Though there are lots of speaking strategies, the strategy developing activities are only a few. Thus, this study proposes task activities in detail to develop various speaking strategies for various learners. To do this, the kinds of speaking strategies are reviewed and then re-categorized according to the phase of task performance to utilize them in speaking. In addition, the speaking tasks of Korean materials are analyzed to study which activities are suitable for developing learners` speaking strategies. Based on this, this study suggests how to construct the speaking tasks including activities to develop various speaking strategies.

아동 대상 한국어 문식성 교육을 위한 총체적 언어 접근의 비판적 적용

This article is for critical examining whole language approach as the approach for Korean literacy education for children. In whole language approach, language is the whole one that cannot be split, and language learning should take place in meaningful and purposeful using of language. This approach is apt to children learners who are insufficient in logical or analytic thinking and receive language learning as the synthetic process with learning world`s knowledge. In this article, distinguishing characteristics of children learners of Korean language was examined, and insufficient base in oral language, development of first language literacy, insufficient background knowledge was presented as their characteristics so that whole language approach can examined in critical viewpoint. Finally, based on these discussion, the balanced approach in early literacy teaching, synthetic literacy education with explicit teaching, grading in contents and resources for literacy educationl is necessary for Korean literacy education for children learners.

고급 한국어 학습자의 토론 담화에 나타난 조사 오류 양상 분석

The purpose of this study is to analyse the errors on the usage of particles in the discussion of advanced Korean Language Learners. Since there are few studies on analysis of particle errors focusing on spoken language of advanced learners, the current is one of the first studies that examine the aspects of particle errors of advanced Korean learners` spoken products. The discussions of 70 advanced learners of Korean language from 11 countries, divided into seven groups, were transcribed and analysed. The results show that there are three characteristics in their use.: 1) the rate of particle error occurrence(9.2%) of the advanced learners` discourse is lower than those of the results of previous researches on the advanced Korean learners` written texts(12.0%~12.9%), and the intermediate learners` spoken (10.2%) & written materials(10.4%). 2) the highest rate of error occurrence is the subjective particle ‘이/가’(17.2%), the adverbial particle ‘에’(12.6%), and the objective particle ‘을/를’(11.8%) in order. 3) among the six types of errors(errors of substitution, ommission, addition, form, paraphrasing, and pronunciation) substitution errors has the highest frequency of occurrence.
