아랍어 담화 표지어 /fa/에 관한 절차적 의미 연구

This study aims to investigate the procedural meaning and function of the Arabic discourse marker /fa/, which is used in the standard Arabic language and to critically examine Al-Khalil`s (2005) conversational analysis of the Arabic discourse marker and Ibn Jinni`s (1952) claim based on relevance theory that discourse particle(al-harf) in Arabic do not encode meanings by themselves. It analyzes the Arabic discourse marker /fa/ based on the procedural meaning of relevance theory of Blakemore (1987, 2002) and argues that discourse markers in the standard Arabic encode procedural meanings such as conclusive import, temporality, explicative force, and unexpectedness. Along the line of this study, /thumma/, /`innama/ and /lakinna/ can also be analyzed as discourse markers. It also claims that it is necessary for the research of discourse markers to provide their natural and meaningful usages in a broad range of situations. The results of this study make it possible to advance from current elementary Arabic teaching methods to practical teaching methods that are more effective in improving learners` Arabic proficiency in authentic situations.

This paper studies the semantic devlopment in the Travels of Ibn Battutah, in an attempt to make for the shortcomings in the study of the Arabic language history, especially in connection with the devolpment of semantics in the light of Modern Linguistics findings and laws that control the relationship between language and society. It enumerates the aspect and reasons of semantic development, and shows the factors that guide the new meanings of words that emerge out of it. This paper also shows the stages of the semantic development of some words through their usage in Ibn Battutah`s Travels versus the traditional Arabic lexican, and lashes at the semantic development that took place beyond Ibn Battutah`s time. This paper also tries to relate the semantic development as manifested in Ibn Battutah`s Travels to the political, religious and social conditions that entailed them, and tries to show how the linguistic dominance of Persian in India at that time influenced the semantic change of some words.

Scholars have found out that using the story in language teaching in the early education stage achieves two goals simultaneously: teaching children reading and raising them to love reading. The impact of the story on the lives of children is not only limited to the acquisition of reading and speaking skills, but also extended to thinking, reflection, dialogue, criticism and creativity. This study addresses two sections: identifying the functions of story art in the development of Arabic language skills in the teaching and learning process and secondly doing an analytical reading in the writing of Ubu Alhassan Alnadawi whose one of his teaching philosophies was employed the story to teach Arabic language in India.

This paper aims to discuss the development and role of the madrasa in the pre-modern Muslim world, in the hope that this will fill the vacuum of research on the madrasa in Korea. For the past 30 years, Korean scholars have only produced works on the madrasas in the modern Muslim world, without making any attempt to ponder changes made in the educational institutions between pre-modern and modern times. This paper endeavors to trace the development of the madrasa, highlighting its role in the pre-modern Muslim world, and discussing significant transformations the institution has gone through.
