This study looks at the ways of developing grammar instruction methods which intermediate Arabic learners may take interest to and applies these methods to classroom. It also takes a look at how effective the instruction methods using feedback options are in promoting learning of grammar and learners’ affective aspects such as interest, confidence and motivation. For this study, an experiment was conducted where 12(Group A) were taught Arabic grammar using focus on error·metalinguistic feedback, 10(Group B) using repetition of incorrect production·metalinguistic feedback, and 10(Group C) using covert feedback. In a result of the comparison among groups, the repetition of incorrect production·metalinguistic feedback Group had significantly better grades in grammar than learners in the rest. The main results of the experiment are as follows. Firstly, all kinds of feedback are helpful to enhance learners’ learning of Arabic grammar. However, the repetition of incorrect production·metalinguistic feedback was proved to be the most effective one. Secondly, it was found, through a questionnaire on the affective aspects toward the feedback on three groups, that the focus on error·metalinguistic feedback and the repetition of incorrect production·metalinguistic feedback brought significant enhancement in interest toward learning Arabic, and interest and confidence toward learning of grammar. Especially, the repetition of incorrect production·metalinguistic feedback had a positive effect on the confidence toward learning Arabic. Thirdly, analyzing further questionnaires and interviewing students in three groups, it was found that students much preferred the repetition of incorrect production·metalinguistic feedback. The reason was that the feedback allow students to think about their error one more time and if they still couldn't correct it, then, in that case, a teacher offered a metalinguistic feedback.

This paper aims to investigate the lexico-semantic distinction of al- Mushurarak al-Lafẓī focusing on views of ancient and modern Arabic linguists. Firstly, the definitions of homonymy and polysemy in Korean and Arabic dictionaries were examined. Then the terminological definition of al- Mushurarak al-Lafẓī and the subsequent views of ancient Arabic linguists were examined. Finally, the definition of al-Mushurarak al-Lafẓī by modern Arabic linguists and their lexico-semantic explanations were also examined. Using the methods outlined above, al-Mushurarak al-Lafẓī was compared with homonymy and polysemy. In conclusion, ancient and modern Arabic linguists do not clearly distinguish between the terminologies and features of homonymy and polysemy with respect to al-Mushurarak al-Lafẓī, making it a unique lexico-semantic distinction of Arabic.

This paper aims to understand the world of al-Mutanabbī's poetry. Through the translation and annotation, it tries to analyze his satiric poem against Kāfūr, "Oh, a feast! Anyway, have you come around again?( َيَّة 􀏥 عِيد عِيدُ 􀊮 حالٍ عُدتَ )". It deals with its subject and satirical style, as well as the poet's intention. First, by reading the poem analytically regarding al-Mutanabbī's personal history, this paper demonstrates his political ambition with its roots in Arabism he had nursed since his heady days of youth. Frustrated by his political failure in Egypt, he composed this satiric poem against Kāfūr as a retaliatory measure. Second, in this poem, al-Mutanabbī did not neglect the satire's formal aspects even when he attacked Kāfūr by slander and ridicule with personal feelings. Aware of the satire's social functions, he tried to find Kāfūr's personal flaws, such as his humble origin as a black slave. Linking them to the political and social contexts, he attempted to arouse anti-Kāfūr sentiment among Egyptians. Third, although this poem functions as a satiric poem formally equipped with social and political causes, it is al-Mutanabbī's personal hatred and antipathy toward Kāfūr that dominate the poem. Ultimately, the poet's original intention lying behind the satire was to release his pent-up anger, which had long been repressed. Overall, al-Mutanabbī, throughout the composition, harmonized logical reasoning with feeling on the on hand and objectivity with subjectivity on the other and this symmetry situates the poem right in the position of a satiric poem.

This article suggests a new category to explain migrants from the Middle East & North Africa(MENA). The existing classification system for migrants does not show the whole landscape of migration from MENA, which limits the perspective of observing the ongoing change in countries with Muslim migrants from MENA. First, this study analyzes migrants' statistics from MENA: their origin, immigrant countries, and the relevant statistics. Second, this study identifies the difficulties of explanations based on former migrant categories. Lastly, this article suggests a new categorization for MENA migrants: 1) labor migrants, 2) high-skilled migrants, and 3) survival migrants, and explains the characteristics and statistics. It can be able to analyze the specific purpose of migrant based on this new categorization.
