Nam-Gui-Gi-Hang is a work that should not be neglected in the history of travel literature. It is considered to have been written under the influence by Book-Jung by Doo-Bo, Sa-Mi-In-Gok and Gwan-Dong-Byol-Gok by Chung, Cheol. The expression of Nam-Gui-Gi-Hang is characterized by the artless and realistic style. In terms of the whole organization, it consists of 5 big paragraphs and 20 small paragraphs. In the meantime, it is much easier to divide paragraphs, which is attributable to the author’s writing with a clear awareness of paragraphs. It is considered that the author’s topophilia in Nam-Gui-Gi-Hang reflects his dual orientation of life, which means both his being politically- oriented and his desire to live as a literary man.

Gosan Yun, Seon-Do (1587-1671) is the great poet whose life was successful in the end of Chosun dynasty. His 75 works at that time could be categorized into three dimensional meanings as follows: The fir.st, the work < KyonHoeYoo > set up the dimension of the present politics implicating the confidence of his faith. The second, the dimension of the nature was set up in the works of < ManHeong >, < OhWooGa >and < YoeBooSaSiSa >. However, in the first two works it shows that he struggled himself to convince self-existence by comparing the reality with the nature because turning himself to the nature was caused by others not by himself. In the work of < YoeBooSaSiSa >, however, it was observed that the struggle seemed to be released as the work moved to the open dimension. However, there was still struggling matter inside of him. The third, the dimension of heaven appeared in the work of < MongChonYoo >. The dimension is not an ideal one but only a change from the reality. So, the dimension was observed as a tragedy of the reality After all, according to his life and works it was understood that KoSan Yun, Sun-do wanted to .show the realization of the governing nation and people properly.

This article intends to explore the aspect of Yun Seon-do’s self-quest with a specific consideration of “space” and its function. This exploration is based on the idea that the place―specified space which is endowed with geometric identification―confine and control one’s mentality. Geumswae-dong in Haenam and Bogil-do, the composition sites of "New Songs in the Mountainsand “The Fisherman’s Song of Four Seasons, ” play a particularly important role both in Yun’s personal life and in his literature. These places, which respectively represent “mountains” and “sea”,affect his inner world thereby acting as a frame of self-recognition. "New Songs in the Mountains” and “The Fisherman’s Song of Four Seasons, ’’ like two sides of a coin, can be considered as verbal equivalents to or literary representations of his self-quest. Mountains, with its height and depth, symbolize sublimity and moral elevation; Sea, with its openness and formlessness, implies the sense of vastness. “New Songs in the Mountains, ” composed of 18 poems, can be categorized as three groups: first six poems with the subtitle “Random Thoughts, " next six poems, and last six poems with the subtitle “The Song of Five Friends.” With the symbolization system of the mountains, “New Songs in the Mountains can be construed as a literary configuration of Yun’s mentation of self-introspection; with that of the sea, “The Fisherman's Song of Four Seasons" can be understood as a verbal embodiment of his self-expansion.

This thesis has the purpose of finding out the meaning of voice in female speaker poetry written by male author. Especially this is based on comparative study by the theory of Ventriloquized voice'. The problem of the choice of poetic speaker, or what kind of poetic- speaker the author chooses according to poetic situation, us well as the characteristics of the voice of each poetic speaker will be examined. The relationship between author and poetic speaker, which establishes the voice, is crucial in the understanding of literary works, especially like Yeongungasa as Samiingok and Sokmiingok of Jeong Cheol. In case of Samiingok, the author is a male hut only female poetic speaker appears in different gender speaker type. The meaning of this crossing of gender between author and poetic speaker is very important. Elizabeth D. Harvey looks at the transvestism at work, like Ovid's Heroides, in text which purport to he by women hut which are in fact written by men. He examined the appropriations of the feminine voice by male author, and named Ventriloquized voice’. Ventriloquism is an appropriation of he feminine voice, and that it reflects and contributes to a larger cultural silencing of women. Compared with Eastern and Western literature, there are both similarities and differences. The comparative study of them must he worthwhile for the inquiry into ‘the crossing of gender' relationship between author and poetic speaker. Future studies should expand the objects of analysis, for example the work written by Kim So-wol. And it is hoped that comparison is more detailed.

Ageldama is Park, Sang-lyung’s the first novel. The first novel is most important as a discussion about an author’s literature. It is core of an author’s spirit. After a creative writing of Ageldama, Park, Sang-lyung continued creation. For example, there is ‘A Study of Death’,This novel gives a calk about death and revival. However this theme is discovered by the first novel. This is one example. Ageldama includes important motifs of Park, Sang-lyung's novels. I study the narration of Ageldama. Especially I study the narration of a narrator. Ageldama is the parody of Judas Iscariot. But an interpretation of this novel does not correspond with normal men's thinking about Judas Iscariot in the Bible. Because of the narration of a narrator in this novel, an interpretation about Judas Iscariot is unique. Namely, a narrator aligns himself with Judas Iscariot. In other words, a narrator's voice adheres closely to him. Meanwhile, the narration of a narrator speaks out towards the outside of the text. Means drawn out of the text is the Bible and a myth(Satyr). The narration of a narrator is a dialogue about the Bible and a myth. This discussion will apply to Park, Sang-lyung’s other novels. This is a discussion of among texts.

I have examined on aesthetic code of Toji, written by Park, Kyoung- rhee. Especially I guess Toji has a number of characters more than 600 who were obsessed with regret, a kind of Korean ethos. Regret of Korean people is a mental state of repression by the problems of class, social status, gender, the Japanese colonial situation and the face of human-being’s existence, etc. I absolutely tried to pick up the way of sublimating their regrets in the aesthetic dimension of the text. The aesthetic code could be divided three. For instance, they are fantastic code, naturalistic code, and artistic code. As follows: ①The fantastic code has a few motives of illusion, fantasy, vision mysticism of referring [o Kim, Hwan’s dream and retrospection on his lover who is a madam of Byuldang and Kik-sang’s dream of 'Returning horse'. ②The naturalistic code is presented by Seo, Keum-dol, Ki-hwa(Bong- soon), Joo-gap, which is a natural sen.se of beauty of Korean folks. They are great singers, even though they have never learned music, dance from any orthodox school or teacher. They are possessed by a sensibility of an autonomous libido and high spirits, so-called an aesthetic sense, ‘Ggi’ or 'Poongryu'. ③The artisic code is representd by the professional artists, Kil-sang, (Budhhism painter) Byung-soo(craftsman), Yong-gwang(saxophoni.st). They all have family troubles with an orphant(Kil-sang)t physical handicapped (a humpback) and his parents' sinful deeds (Bynng-soo), a grand son of a butcher of his maternal family line(Yong-gwang). Then, these would be their trauma. So, Kil-sang's painting(the Goddess of Mercy), Byung-Soo’s a woodwork, and Yong-gwang's saxophone are the ways of sublimating their regrets.

This paper aims to examine systematically the literariness and the novelistic of Cho Sehee's A Dwarf Launches a Little Ball, closely studying the reality effect within this text. To achieve this, this paper concentrates on: the reality effects in terms of the epistemology, the inclination and the morphology. Even though A Dwarf Launches a Little Ball commences from the oppositional view on the world, it endeavors to find out a new prospect reforming and going beyond the view. The writer Cho Sehee brings in the dichotomous and oppositional mechanism for the cognizance of the world, so as to recognize the problematic actuality of 1970’s, when the industrialization has come regularized. The mechanism is for the acknowledgement of the mendacious actuality. The symbolic confrontation between the dwarfness and the giant-ness is a narrative strategy to figure out the actuality vividly or to maximize the epistemological reality effect. The writer plans a discourse of chaosmos to surmount the opposition, after noticing the deceitful reality contrapuntally. He reveals effectively the inclination, under the name of literary justice, to cope with the arguable actuality so called 1970’s. In this series of A Dwarf Launches a Little Ball, the motifs of ‘Mo bius strip’ and 'Klein bottle' as well as the story on the chimney sweeper are the devices bringing about the reality effect of inclination. They give the aesthetics of complexity to this entire series and they are also the mechanism supplementing the simplicity of the dichotomous point of view because they are resulted from the chaos-mos consciousness tracing the cosmos in chaos or the chaos in cosmos. Such inclinational reality effect is closely related with the morphological reality effect. The latter confirms again the aesthetics of complexity showing the inclination through the de-oppositional view on the world, in spite of searching out the reality in the oppositional view. I analyzed attentively the morphing of sequences, of various forms of point of view, and the discursive morphing from actuality to fantasy and in turn. These aspects of morphing prove to be the fundamental mechanisms that unveil the reality effects of this series, moreover, the literary effect.

In Korean literature, it is often told that the issue of “Modernity” is to classify the character of the Korean literature. In discussing the issue of “Modernity”,to discuss from the point of woman-subjectivity is different from to discuss from the point of gender difference. How can we define woman-subjectivity not from the point of antagonistic relationship and modernity objectivity hut from the point of a positive basic concept? It is only possible to discuss the issue of "Modernity’ as a matter of discourse not as a mailer of independent recognition. Why the issue of “Modernity’' appears so differently depending on debater or time? It seems that everyone discusses in different voices about different .stories but in reality, same issues were discussed about same things. I was able to describe the early modern woman by reconstructing depositions and relationships of each text and by positioning woman-subjectivity. I described the early modern woman by getting many faces of free love, chastity and maternal instinct tied in the space of Modernity discourse.
