For the humanities in today's nature is the key topics and keyword. Nature and culture, culture and nature is one of the basic dichotomy. The lexical meaning of the nature in the East and West have in common while the cultural and implied meaning are different. About the nature of the concept of East and West is a large gap in the cultural sense and implied meaning But the nature of the common between two worlds are the concept of the providence and the order(law). Today, the era of information science, or the age of digital culture requires the following thought ; for all beings on earth, nature itself is a providence. Nature provides the background and material to the literature and nature is the womb of literature. Moreover, nature determines the textuality of literadetworks bechese intertextuality is working between literature and nature. Vitality of nature to enrich the world of literature. We will be able to enhance the research of literature through nature. Now the humanities have to rethink nature and provision of nature.

Two roads to genuine criticism in the study of art and literature run parallel. Kantian aesthetician says that art, transcendent from all interests, is beautiful as art itself. Hegellian aesthetician regards art as the way to telos. Semiotic criticism analysed the internal structure and forming principles of text. Marxist criticism synthesized literary works as super-structure and socioeconomic base. Marxist criticism subordinated literature to socioeconomic content and deprived literary text of literariness while evading the problem of poetic construction. Formalism was not able to admit that an external social factor could become an intrinsic factor of literature. Bakhtin's sociological poetics went far beyond the non-social poetics of pure Formalism as well as the non-literary sociology of crude Marxism contributing both a genetic structuralist approach. Bakhtin defined the task of sociological poetics as grasping the concrete and material unity of poetic construction both in relation to its semantic meaning and ideological significance. However, we realize limitation to apply this theory to poetic text and draw meanings and aesthetic value. Social semiotics synthesizes text and ideology, structure and history. It criticizes the ideology in discourse. However, it is very difficult to find literariness in literary text while applying to this theory. So, I look at the two ways beyond sociological poetics and Social semiotics. The one is the synthesis of semiotics and cultural studies. The other is Hwajaeng semiology is my original theory which synthesizes semiotics and Marxist sociology. This theory synthesizes text and context, text and ideology, code and message, author as a sender and reader as a receiver through Wonhyo(元曉: 617-686)'s Hwajaeng philosophy. It is possible to colligate formalism poetics and Marxist sociology so that we may poetically and scientifically analyze the structure of a text while at the same time interprets and evaluates the value of the text in its socio-cultural context.

My aim in this paper is to come up with a new conception of semiosis based on this concept of translation. My working hypothesis is that reading is a form of translation. Over the discussion I would like to quote Don Quixote's episodes for the illustration of my purpose. According to C. S. Peirce, semiosis is defined in terms of the sign action performed by three agents interconnected : Representamen, Object and Interpretant. Notice that Interpreter, the human being as a subject who operates the sign action is excluded from this initial definition ; he is at the outside of a semiosis whereas the semiosis is always operated inside him. The interpreter who is supposed to live his life in a specific semiotic sphere is an external agent of the semiosis that is operated in this sphere. From the perspective of this extended definition of the semiosis, what I propose here to call a trans-semiosis can be understood in terms of the semiotic trans-action that is realized at least between two different semiotic spheres. In this sense I’ d like to claim that the trans-semiosis as a semiotic trans-action is part of translation. Reading is part of trans-semiosis in that it calls for an interaction between two different semiosis situated. The reader takes the role of a traveler who moves across the borderline between the real world he lives in and the text world he tastes by the act of reading. From the point of view of the cognitive narratology, the narrativity that makes a narrative text narrative lies, not in a text itself but in an interaction between text and reader. Reading unfolds as a concrete form of this interaction. Reading a text is equivalent to making a hypothesis based on real life experiences in order for a reader to understand it. From this perspective, a strong, i.e., convincing hypothesis is that which is based on the experiences that can be shared by many people as well as applicable to many parts of the text. Don Quixote is not an ordinary reader who tends to read a text by making a hypothesis based on his real life experiences. He is a very special reader attempting to read the real world from a text perspective. My purpose is to describe this specificity by claiming that reading is part of trans-semiosis.

In this study, I focussed on the own properties and functions of Images distinguished from narratives in Samganghaengsildo which was the beginning of many books for the enlightenment in Chosun Dynasty. Until now, the reason why the producers of Samganghaengsildo inject the images into this book has been thought for the figuration of stories, and in this thought there has been a tacit and hidden assumption which the final goal of Samganghaengsildo, the Enlightenment of people, could achieve only through the comprehension of the stories. But because of the arrangement of images regardless of narrative development the images of Samganghaengsildo do only make sense if the readers already know the stories written by the Chinese characters and selected among the classics. I insisted that the intention to put the upper, for example the king, the government official and the deceased, on the space of the images bring about this confused arrangement of the images. I also pointed out that there were the uses of repeated patterns in the Samganghaengsildo, the uses of size and certain poses about persons. The most important thing, I think, was that these all patterns of images have converged into the ultimate goal of Samganghaengsildo, the division between the upper and the lower, and operated for rule of ritual(禮治) in the Chosun Dynasty.

This paper exams stories about fate, the 'fate-stories'. In the story world, the characters recognize some events was already decided irrespective of their certain behavior. Out of many accomplished events, I focus on the events which makes a subject wealth or noble. I call the fatalism which is found in the stories, 'fatalism on the wealth' or 'fatalism on the noble'. This paper researches the differences between the two fatalism and exams the cultural meaning which is result from the differences. The fatalism on the wealth is actualized by being subject to restriction. It is noticed by contrasting the two semiotic squares. Non-wealth and non-poor are not actualized in the text. But non-noble and non-humble are actualized in the text. The two semiosphere is asymmetry. As a result, the fatalism on the noble makes rich versions while fatalism on the wealth makes restricted versions. And the paradigm constructed by the former is richer than the latter. the former Also the former is closed and the latter is opened. The issues on the noble and humble are explained by only fatalism, while the issues on the wealth and poor are explained by another discourse. The representative discourse which is related to the fatalism on wealth is about fortune by Providence. One good tum deserves another. 'Another' good means fortune by Sky. Another discourse on the wealth is about an object which makes the owner rich. The boundary of fatalism on the wealth is blurred by moral philosophy and natural philosophy.

This thesis intends to study the possibility of biological critics about the mythical existence of the mother-goddess through the epigenetic rules of the incest avoidance. Edward. O. Wilson emphasize the unity of knowledge by the biological understanding about a man. It is 'consilience'. He says that the gene, brain of a man and culture are doing co-evolution and interaction. The relationship between the gene and culture is explained by the notion of 'epigenetic rules' and 'gene-culture coevolution'. The joining of the natural science and culture is possible through the 'interpretation'. There is a close connection between the universal rules of human culture and the evolutionary processes. It could reveal that the connection of gene with culture by interpreting of the art text. The way of joining gene and culture is the semiotic and structural interpretation. This thesis studied about the reappearance of epigenetic rules of incest avoidance through the text of myth. In addition, this thesis intends to study the possibility of biological critics about the problematic of interpretation of myth.

This study points on the possibility of semiotic analysis and communication model of O Kyuwon's poetry. For that purpose, this study subjected middde age of 0 Kyuwon's Poetry. In this thesis, two aspects are considered on directions of discussion. The first is that O Kyuwon's poetry show metaphor and metonymy aspects in communication model. The purpose of discussion is to analize how these two aspects interact on poetic discourse as text are organized, and to study aspects of variety of poetic discourse structure. Semiotic analysis is applied for effective variation of discussion. According to the aspect of dominant paradigm and communication model, I select the mythology of Roland Barthes. Then I exemplify the semiotic analysis and discuss comparable characteristics. I analize semiotic structure of O Kyuwon's poetry with 「Frantz Kafka」, 「The Bingrae Milk 200 ㎖ package」, 「Sometimes I am taken notice of somebody」, 「It's my Life」. Also I compare four poems on embodied meaning of struetual principles and of semiotic systems, and special characteristics in each works. For all that, he shows asthetic potential and achievement as dominant as modernist on the basis of sociological imagination. O Kyuwon actively reflected add criticized life of the distorted fetish society through poetry writing with genre disinrgration, and expressed reaction to the 1980's oppression.
