한국어 교재의 문형유형 분석 -문형 등급화를 위해-

The purpose of this study is to examine the types of grammatical patterns appeared in the Korean language textbooks and dictionaries and to grade them accordingly. For this purpose, this study compiles the grammatical items and sort out those items based on lexical approach in order to measure their frequency and importance. These grammatical items are used to provide the basic information needed for function oriented syllabus. This study classifies the single vocabulary items into content words items and functional words items. They should be presented as general learning vocabularies rather than treated as related to grammatical items. In many cases. the content words items are usually handled with grammatical items in order to suggest the categorization of meaning of the verbs or to explain the irregular verbs. The functional word items are morpho-syntactically classified into single vocabulary and collocation. Most of them are comprised of single words or sub-words that are related to word class vocabularies. (Kyung Hee University)

한국어 교육을 위한 희망 표현 연구

This study aims to select `a class of wish expression` and establish levels of them for the effective Korean Education. To accomplish this job, I investigate the actual use of the native speakers through the Spoken Corpus and survey the aspect of the Korean learner`s Corpus. Based on the result, I choose few expression; -고 싶다, -(았/었)으면 좋겠다, -(았/었)으면 하다 as for essential expression thorough the frequency in use and learning degree of difficult. I attempt to make to a hierarchy which is set a standard for Korean learn`s learning periods such as novice, intermediate and advanced levels. I suggest that it has to be shown `-고 싶다` is following an action verb in 1st speaker subject sentence with information; not combining with elements meaning of ability and `-겠-`, directly expressed speaker`s desire and usually used in common and unofficial conversation. Comparing with `-고 싶다`, it has to be presented that `-(았/었)으면 좋겠다` carries out 1st speaker wanting for another person to do something. `-았(/었)으면 하다` substitutes for `-았(/었)으면 좋겠다`. In the end, I suggest a spiral pedagogy of a class of wish expression. (Korea University)

The learners of Korean as a foreign language are influenced widely by their mother languages. Each learner, of course, has different difficulties in learning Korean. It can be said that mother languages of the learners decide the degrees of the difficulties in Korean language acquisition. This study aims to research the types of errors in Korean composition of Vietnamese students, especially in spelling, words, and grammar. The research found that Vietnamese students make errors mainly in spelling, words, and grammar which have different structures and forms with Vietnamese. (Yeungnam University)

This study focuses on how to research overseas Koreans` language use. First, three areas for the research have been proposed, which are the attitude toward Korean, Koreans and Korea, Korean language proficiency and Korean language life of overseas Koreans. This kind of research is concerned with L2 users or learners, so variabilities should be considered. Overseas Koreans` primary or second language should be considered because they are bilingual or live in bilingual societies. Other variabilities such as their residing areas, occupations, family members and age have been mentioned as divers variabilities as well. Last, it is emphasized that quantitative and qualitative research methodologies are complementarily needed. Especially, ethnographic methods such as in-depth interview, and conversation, classroom discourse and narrative discourse analysis have been proposed because existing research on the actual state of language use lacked. Japanese who are currently staying in Korea and learning Korean language are faced with the situation when they have to deal with appropriate use of honorifics, in communicating with Korean native speakers. It seems to be significant for learners to use appropriate honorifics in Korean society. First, in this study, the researcher grasps the learners` understandings of honorifics through the researcher-prepared questionnaire, and then investigates the actual use of honorifics in their everyday life. Also, as the theoretical background of the study, the characteristics of Korean phonetics, the required proficiencies of using Korean honorifics, and the cross-linguistic features between Japanese and Korean honorifics are also investigated. Finally, as a result of error analysis and proficiencies of using honorifics, researcher presents the education principles of Korean honorifics along with the issues of current Korean honorifics education. 교사 피드백 방법이 한국어 학습자 작문의 형태 오류 감소에 미치는 영향

This study investigates in process-oriented writing, (1) whether feedbacks by a teacher on student writing of Korean are effective and (2) which is effective for reduction of students` form errors between two different feedback methods. Thirty(30) Korean language students at a beginner`s level were classified into three groups with; (a) explicit feedback treatment, (b) implicit feedback treatment and (c) no-feedback as a control group. All the participants had two writing tasks, original and subsequent writing, and the study compared two writings. The results of the study are as follows. First, there is a difference on error reduction between two groups; one with a treatment of teacher feedbacks on form errors and the others with no treatment of teacher feedbacks. Secondly, the explicit feedback treatment group and the implicit feedback treatment group are compared to examine which feedback method is effective on form error reduction. As a result, there is a significant difference between two groups, however, only grammar errors shows a significant difference when respective categories of form errors are examined. Based on the result, teacher`s feedbacks are effective on reduction of grammar errors, but it should be considered methods, period and categories of errors for providing feedbacks. 한국어 교재에 나타난 인사표현 양상과 그 효과적 교수 방안 연구

This study investigates greeting expressions in Korean language textbooks and suggests some teaching methods for them. Greeting expressions are basic and indispensable parts in daily conversations among people. They are also instrumental in understanding Korean language and culture. The greeting expressions that are appeared in 9 Korean language textbooks can be classified into 12 categories and a number of accompanying sub-categories by conversational situations and contexts. These 12 categories include: meeting situations, departing situations, sleeping situations, dining situations, leaving/coming home situations, visiting situations, requesting favors situations, thanking situations, congratulating/praising situations, appeasing/encouraging situations, asking regards situations, and telephoning situations. These categories are further divided by sub-categories and analyzed according to phatic communion. The teaching methods suggested in this study are culture education by the solidarity and some additional methods for teaching greeting expressions effectively. (George Washington University)

This paper examines the usage of the Korean conjunctive ending, `-ㄴ데` Both students and teachers encounter difficulties in learning the Korean conjunctive ending, `-ㄴ데,` because its form varies depending on the words it is joined with, while multiple relationships exist with preceding and escorting clauses. When this `-ㄴ데` form is taught to beginners who are not yet familiar with the Korean language, it acts as a learning barrier of even greater difficulty. Students generally tend to use vocabulary and grammatical expressions learned in early stages more frequently. Since the `-ㄴ데` conjunctive ending is usually taught early on and it is used often, the frequency of its use naturally causes many errors. In this report, the meanings of the `-ㄴ데` conjunctive ending are explained with a focus on its semantic functions, with classifications of contrast, background-description, and cause-presentation. We also present teaching methods which apply these semantic classifications to actual classroom situations. (Hanyang University)

No teaching is possible without clearly defined learning goals. The learning goal for a specific purpose language course can be called "specific purpose language competence", which is by definition a partial and weighted proficiency. The aim of this paper is to find out how this competence can be described. We will show that although there exists some general purpose proficiency scales, these are not suitable for a description of a specific purpose language competence. We will therefore suggest a clear distinction between proficiency scales and level descriptions and then demonstrate a procedure to formulate level descriptions based on analytic proficiency scales. The purpose of this study is to analyze and to evaluate the previous KFL(Korea as a foreign language) textbook for re-edition of a textbook and development of a new textbook. For reliability and positiveness, (1) this study classifies the current of KFL textbook development in China. And this study reviews the content and characteristic of typical KFL textbook in each period that the quickening period, the preparing period, the leaping period, the growing period. Also, this study indicates the tendency and issues of the researches which are related to KFL textbook in China through arrangement of theme. (2) For systematic and valid analysis, this study considers the distinctiveness between `korean language education` and `the chinese-speaking language`. and then, frames criteria of KFL for evaluation. Based on these criteria of evaluation, this study analyzes "The basic korean language" textbook that published by Peking University and Fudan University in diverse aspects that aim of education, teaching method, organization of unit, theme, alphabet, pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and learning activity.
