다의성 동사 교육의 목표와 내용에 대하여 -“보다”를 중심으로-

The purpose of this study is to argue the goal of teaching Korean polysemous verbs and to propose how to teach those polysemous words efficiently. It is well known that foreign students learning Korean language often fail to use an appropriate verb which is suitable to given sentence. And this type of errors is due to using a more specific verb instead of a more basic, but polysemous verb. Thus, many researches emphasized that not the meanings of single verb, but the polysemous usages of the verb should be taught. However many of these researches seemed to be oriented more or less linguistically, not educationally, therefore it is still needed to prepare the appropriate teaching form to teach the polysemous verbs. I think that the lexical pattern such as ‘Noun(+Case marker)+Verb` could be available to teach the Korean polysemous verbs in that a noun which is preceded by a verb is decisive to verb meaning in Korean. For a instance, a verb {po-}(to see) has polysemous meaning as in `cip-ul po-ta`(to guard one`s house), ‘hwan-ja-lul po-ta`(to give medical treatment to patients), and each of those meanings is determined by the `cip` as in the former, `hwan-ja` as in the latter.

The purpose of this study is to identify the current state of Korean education and to classify its fields of contents research. This study also analyses the previous research and curriculums, and suggests the research programs for further development of contents research. This research can be applied to construction of textbooks and instructer training. In addition, it provides a solid background for development of effective teaching and learning methods. Along with an academic exchange between related fields of study, Korean contents research can contribute to establishment of new academic theory and its applications. (Yonsei University)

한국어 학습자 발화의 유창성 판단에 관한 연구

In addition to grammatical accuracy, pronunciation, and appropriateness, ets. fluency is one of the several key elements of language assessment. This study is concerned with three subjects of fluency such as speech speed, filled pauses and disfluency features in the spoken performance of Korean learners. Also, it has an effect on native judgement of fluency in the spoken performance of Korean learners. This study analysed spoken performance of 10 Chinese Korean learners, it was observed that syllable per minutes, number of more than 3-second pause, number of more than 1-second pause, number of repetition, number of hesitates. This shows that three subjects of fluency did not exactly effect on native judgement of fluency. The implication of the study is that analysis of native judgement of fluency may have the potential to provide an objective tool for Korean teachers to assess spoken fluency. In further study to add more reliability I will try to take and study variety spoken performance of Korean learners. (Pusan National University)

This study attempts to examine how the indirect speech acts are realized in the lower level KFL textbooks, and to draw some educational implications for complementing the current textbooks. For this purpose, the 257 texts from the three most widely used KFL textbook series are scrutinized. The findings in analyzing the realizations of indirect speech acts from the textbooks are as follows: first, a comparatively small number of indirect speech acts appear in the lower level KFL textbooks; second, of the indirect speech acts, highly context-dependent acts that do not have conventional illocutionary indicators are rarely utilized, while the context-independent ones that include conventional illocutionary indicators are prevalent. However, the context-independent ones display a very definite variety of indicators. (Ewha Womans Univeristy)

This study aims to suggest practical methodology for teaching Korean intonation to foreign learners. Chapter two examines the basic units of Korean intonation set up by the preceding linguistic studies, selects grammatical function and illocutionary function as the major communicative functions of intonation, and researches the methodological theories for teaching intonation. Chapter three presents the model textbook for practical and effective teaching of Korean intonation based on the analysis of the errors made by foreign learners of Korean language. The model textbook presented in this study attempted to visualize the Korean intonation for better understanding and divided the stage of learning into three steps of perception, practice, and evaluation for systematic practice of intonation. 한국어 담화 교육을 위한 논의 -한국어 경어법 관련 표현을 중심으로-

For the effective use of a language, it is important to understand the essential features of that language. One of the most significant features of Korean language for Korean learners is the honorific expression. As its usage is greatly varied, it is very difficult for foreign students to deal with. In this study, I survey the ways honorific expressions are presented in several Korean textbooks used by Korean language centers at a number of universities. I also examine the teaching of related discourse and point out some examples of misdirected teaching. I then suggest effective teaching methods by focusing separately on the sentence`s final endings, pre-final endings, pronouns, nouns, propositions, verbs, and so on. This approach is easier than the traditional approach in which the categories are divided into subject respect, object respect, and hearer respect.

문화 간 의사소통의 갈등 양상 분석

As a consequence of globalization and internationalization of communication between cultures today, the more attention has been increased, the more people cannot but encounter such that situation. These interests in intercultural communication have started in business to be sensitive toward internationalization, so most of research and studies have conducted centering around business. However, we can recognize such the communicative situation has become extended into language education as well as various daily conversations. Moreover, the participants from different cultures, having communicative skills may experience cultural conflicts in communicative context, because of differences among them. This study suggests which factors cause some conflicts in intercultural communication and the aspects related to these results. On this basis of these facts, it`s supposed to analyze some aspects of conflicts in the cultural communication with the subject of four types of language participants (Korean, English, Japanese, and Chinese). And We analyze Korean textbooks from the viewpoint of intercultural communication. This point of analysis depending on the criteria of cultural content and the origin of culture. Lastly we offer methods of Korean education to develop the intercultural communicative competence. (Sookmyung Women`s University)

한국어 학습자의 이유 표현 오류 양상에 대한 연구

The purposes of this study were to investigate the patterns of errors with reason expressions among Korean learners and to provide some directions to the efforts to find the ways to teach about reason expressions from a perspective of Korean education. A review of discussions about syntactic errors made by the students trying to learn Korean and the previous discussions about the frequency of the errors according to meaning functions reveals that the errors related to connective endings account for a huge portion. It`s also suggested that the most often used connective ending in the writings by Korean learners is to expression a “reason.” Despite the fact, however, there are not many independent discussions about connective endings or expressions for reasons. Thus this study examined the writings of Korean learners in terms of connective endings to express reasons and the error patterns of the expressions with such a meaning function. It tried to generate some results that would help to design more efficient teaching plans. (Tong Myoung University)

The purpose of this study is to suggest cue of the selection of the case particles in Korean. This study reports on competition model experiment designed to investigate the grammatical cue and lexico-semantic cue in sentence interpretation of foreign learners. This study practice a grammatical alternation test. The concept of interlanguage gave a strong evidence for mentalist`s hypothesis of second language acquisition and proved to be useful for the natural method of second language acquisition. By means of these findings, since language learners showed different responses to the target language, it is not simple question whether the meaning-based comprehension strategy is over grammar-based one in the acquisition of foreign language. This observation seems to be compatible with the competition model, which aims to account for the acquisition of language in terms of cue. This study will be helpful to suggest the efficient method of the case particles education to prevent misuse in the case particles of learners and make good material for the meaningful learner centered education for the case particles. 영어권 고급 학습자를 위한 한국어 화행 교육 모형 개발 연구

The purpose of this article is to examine for methods that integrate the pragmatic differences derived from cultural differences into Korean language education curriculum. The main research question is to find out whether presenting ample information on Korean pragmatics and culture instead of teaching direct discourse patterns or linguistic expressions would enable them to show appropriate pragmatic performance using the given information or not. For this, analysis of learners` needs for understanding Korean pragmatics is done and a special Korean pragmatic educational model is developed according to the results. In this model, learners share their opinions on Korean pragmatics, do the role-play in a given situation, and have a thorough discussion on their performance, through which they could realize the differences between English and Korean pragmatics and further correct their pragmatic errors. This new model can be considered as a desirable way for teaching Korean Pragmatics for English-speaking advanced language learners in that it is based on learners` needs analysis, utilizes Korean cultural and pragmatic information, and encourages learners` voluntary participation in task performance and discussion on the results.
