한국어 학습자의 심리적, 사회적 요인과 구어 통사 복합도 간의 상관관계

This study investigated the correlation between learners` psychological and social factors and their syntactic complexity of speaking. The study collected samples of Korean spoken production of 61 learners with English, Chinese, Japanese and other L1 backgrounds and applied mini-TOPIK, mini-AMTB, and SASIQ for 70 minutes. The study found that: (i) integrative motivation showed positive correlation with a number of simple complex clauses, but instrumental motivation correlated negatively with a number of adverbial clauses, indicating that high motivation hindered producing highly complex clauses although it triggered producing simple complex clauses, (ii) social contact with L2 native speakers showed positive correlation with general L2 development and a number of simple complex clauses, but revealed negative correlation with double or triple complex clauses, (iii) hours of L2 listening showed very strong positive correlation with producing triple complex clauses and general proficiency, but indicated negative correlation with a number of simple complex clauses. The study reported that high motivation toward Korean learning and active social activities with Korean native speakers helped produce simple complex clauses while hours of listening to Korean helped produce triple complex clauses. This research has its basis with focus on the way Korean native speakers recognize Chinese Korean-learners` pronunciation. The objective of the study is to lay the cornerstone for establishing effective teaching-learning strategies for the education of the Korean phonetic system. In this study, the results of the experiment are presented which shows how native speakers of Korean identify Chinese Korean-learners` pronunciation of consonants. In the first place, stimulation tones were created from the original utterances of Chinese Korean-learners and seven scripts were made through the Pratt program. In addition, the subjects were asked to choose what the phonetic materials sounded like. The results of the research are represented as the ratio of frequency of Korean native speakers` response to each utterance to the total frequency. In addition, the paired t-test was taken in order to explore any relatedness to the changes in the level of proficiency of the Korean phonetic system, ranging from beginners to advanced learners. The outcome shows that the mistakes which Chinese Korean-learners make in pronouncing the consonants of Korean are relatively well-reflected in Korean native speakers` auditory cognitive reactions. To put it concretely, there is some difficulty in differentiating lax consonants from aspirates in the cases of plosives and affricates, but relatively little trouble with fortes. However, it is revealed that there is also a slight difference in relation to articulatory positions in detailed aspects. To provide an effective teaching method for the Korean phonetic system, it is essential to comprehend learners` phonetic mistakes through the precise analysis of data in terms of `production.` Also, a more meticulous observation of `phenomena` must be made through verification from the view of `reception,` as attempted in this study. A more thorough diagnosis by applying methodology makes it possible to lay the foundation for developing effective teaching-learning strategies for the instruction of the Korean phonetic system. This paper seeks to use case studies of training programs for teachers at US K-12 schools to provide a model for developing training programs in South Korea for Korean language teachers overseas, and to consider directions for the future. Toward the end, we review examples of professional development programs for Korean language instructors at US K-12 schools that we have developed and conducted between 2011 and 2016. By comparing these programs with the results of post-program assessments, we explore ways of improving those programs. To respect teachers` wishes, these training programs have attempted to strike a balance between cultural and linguistic education while focusing more on workshops, debates, and field trips than on theoretical lectures. The difficulty of operating such programs is the difference in the teachers` individual circumstances and educational context, which necessitates giving teachers an opportunity to discuss the content of the program and find ways to apply it to their own circumstances. To resolve such difficulties, the training programs that we develop should avoid predetermined curriculums and should not be focused on simple drills or the trainer. Instead, these programs should take the approach of proactively incorporating contents desired by the participating teachers by starting with the situations, needs, and tasks of each of those teachers. `나다, 들다`의 연어를 활용한 어휘 교육 방안 -중국인 학습자를 대상으로-

Grammar has long been regarded as an important element in foreign language learning and has received a lot of attention from foreign language learners and researchers. However, in the process of learning, learners will confront an increasing number of words some of which may have multiple meanings. It is not easy for language learners to memorize and master the correct use of these words, especially in terms of pragmatics. Some learners may use the grammar correctly, but their writing or utterance may feel unnatural in discourse. In Korean, `나다, 들다` are two basic verbs, but they have many different meanings which cause a lot of confusion among learners of Korean as a foreign language. In this article, the writer attempts to make a distinction between the collocations of the two verbs `나다, 들다` and provides an effective method for teaching the learners of Korean in China. This thesis is an analysis of research topics among doctorate research papers in Korean education from 1990 to 2016. The purpose of this paper is to keep up with current trends of Korean Language Education research in South Korea and China. The study aims to provide relevant information to researchers majoring in Korean language education and to determine future directions of Korean language education. In this study, among a total of 1709 Korean and Chinese studies of Korean language education, a final selection of 444 doctoral thesis (which consist of a total of 389 papers in Korea and a total of55 papers in China) were chosen from 1990 to 2016. The final selection of 444 papers was classified by year, topics and methodologies with a detailed analysis of the content. In addition, a detailed analysis of future directions and challenges for Korean education within South Korea and China is provided. (Kyung Hee University)

한국어 교사의 매체 문식성 교육에 대한 인식 연구

As the media changes, communication patterns in modern society have been changed as well. This change in the media environment has also transformed the required literacy and it is time to accept this new literacy in Korean language education. At this point, this paper inspected the perception of media literacy classes of 73 teachers currently in the field of Korean language education. The results show that most teachers are aware of the media literacy which has changed socially, and show strong agreement that this changed literacy should be applied in the field of Korean language education. However, today`s media literacy education is passive. Although teachers generally understand the dynamic features of newly emerging digital media, it remains as a tool in class. The teachers pointed out that device problems such as device environment and the spread of media are one of the many reasons for such passive usage. However, the more fundamental problem is that the new communication environment has not been reflected in the curriculum actively. Teachers thought that media literacy has a close relationship with Korean proficiency. Also, they saw that this kind of media literacy will be required for Korean learners in the future with more importance. Based on the results of the study, this paper argues that Korean language education needs to accept and reflect the changes of media in the curriculum. (Woosong University)

한국어 학습자의 원어 연계 전략

This study is for investigating strategy of associating loanwords to original words of Korean language learners. Loanwords have often been thought as easily learnable because the knowledge of the original word is assumed to be helpful in discovering the meaning. But there is much phonological, morphological and semantic transforming in accepting original words in Korean, and therefore, it is not easy to connect Korean loanwords to the original words. In this study, the awareness of loanwords and competence of associating Korean loanwords to the original words of advanced Korean language learners from China are investigated. As a result, the awareness of loanwords is remarkably lower than the awareness of non-loanwords. And, the competence of association also was very low with 17.9% of successful association. This means the learners have difficulty in inferring the meaning of loanwords by connecting that to original words. (Wonkwang Digital University)

담화 차원의 한국어 문법 교육을 위한 `-거든(요)`의 화용적 기능 분석 연구

The purpose of this study is to analyze the pragmatic functions of `-ketun(yo)` expressed in the discourse associating with the context of communication based on the actual conversations of Korean native speakers. As discourse is closely related to the context, contextual factors surrounding the discourse should be actively considered in order to reveal the function of grammar expressed in the discourse. Also, there is need to consider the grammatical functions in terms of the linguistic user which is the subject of interaction in the discourse. Based on this necessity, in this study, we analyzed the pragmatic functions of `-ketun(yo).` As a result, `-ketun(yo)-` had a great influence on the formation and expansion of the shared context in communication contexts. The shared context is expanded through generative mutual knowledge and priori mutual knowledge. As a result of the conversation analysis, `-ketun(yo)-` was used at a high frequency in the expansion of generative mutual knowledge formation. In addition, `-ketun(yo)-` appeared to have a discourse cohesion function that binds topics with other topics. In the case that `-ketun(yo)-` is formed through priori mutual knowledge, `-ketun(yo)-` could be used as a sign to lead the union of the speaker and the listener. This study has significance in that it examines the pragmatic functions of `-ketun(yo)-` in relation to the context of communication based on actual utterance. (Korea University)

학문 목적 학습자를 위한 학술적 텍스트 구성의 수사적 전략 연구

The purpose of this study is to explore and categorize the rhetorical strategies of text construction in research articles and to provide data for academic writing education for foreign graduate students. This study analyzes 30 research articles by Korean writers from Korean language and Korean language education fields, and categorizes the rhetorical strategies according to the roles of the writer as a RA form composer, a manager of research content, and a communicator. On the basis of the strategies, this study analyzes 18 term papers of foreign graduate students and inspects their weaknesses in using the rhetorical strategies. Based on the results of analysis, this study suggests rhetorical strategy education for KAP learners that emphasizes validity and clarifies argument along with attracting readers. 의역학습법을 사용한 한국어 교수법 및 평가도구 제안.

외국어를 학습하는 데 있어서 해당 외국어의 의사소통 능력을 향상시키고 평가한다는 것은 상당히 큰 중요성을 가진다. 교실에서 학습자의 듣기, 말하기, 읽기, 쓰기 능력을 통해 학습자의 언어 능력을 함양하고 평가하기 위해 어떠한 연습문제나 시험 혹은 평가방법을 사용하느냐 하는 것은 학습자의 학습동기에 지대한 영향을 미친다. 왜냐하면, 보통 학습자들은 교수자가 무엇을 가르치고 기대하며 평가하느냐에 따라 자신들의 학습방법을 맞춰 나가기 때문이다. 이러한 맥락에서 본 연구는 보다 적극적인 학습자들의 참여를 유도하고 유연성 있는 학습자 중심의 학습법을 고양시키며 다양한 언어능력을 고취시키기 위하여, 효과적인 외국어 학습법의 하나로 알려진 paraphrasing을 학습에 활용하고자 한다. 특히 paraphrasing은 일상생활 속에서도 의사소통을 원활히 하기 위한 수단으로서 글 바꿔 쓰기 혹은 말 바꿔 말하기로 활용되기도 하나, 본 소논문에서는 paraphrasing이 학습을 목적으로 하는 학습현장에서 활용되었다는 것을 감안하여 의역을 통한 학습 혹은 의역학습법을 소개하고자 한다. 실제로 paraphrasing은 언어 및 외국어학습자들에게 상당히 효과가 있는 것으로 알려진 것에 비해 실제로 한국어 교육현장에서 사용한 연구들은 거의 찾아 볼 수가 없다고 해도 과언이 아니다. 따라서, 의역학습법을 학습현장에서 도입했을 때 경험한 여러 시행착오를 바탕으로 실질적으로 교실에서 사용된 예시들을 소개하고, 한국어를 가르치는 교수자들과 한국어를 배우는 외국인 학습자들에게 paraphrasing을 사용한 새로운 한국어 교수방법과 평가 도구를 제안하고자 한다. 이를 통해, paraphrasing이 한국어를 가르치는 교수자들과 한국어를 배우고자 하는 외국 학습자들에게 효과적인 언어학습 도구로서 실질적으로 교육현장에서 널리 사용될 수 있는 계기가 되었으면 한다.
