The purpose of this study was to describe the processes of the 5th graders` perception changes in a multidisciplinary team approach to health-related fitness program. Thirty-four 5th graders (18 boys, 16 girls) of Seaside Elementary School in Siheung City participated in the health-related fitness program for 22 sessions from May of 2007 through September of 2007. Observations of the lessons, questionnaires, interviews, and teacher diaries were used to collect the qualitative data. Constant comparative method and inductive analysis were used to analyze the data. First, the participants, while participating in the fun and exciting multidisciplinary team approach to health-related fitness program, had begun to have positive perceptions regarding health-related fitness. Second, the processes of the changes in perceptions were due to “fun and fit”, “success oriented”, “improved fitness”, “increased self confidence”, and “help from team members”. Third, many participants were changed in their attitude regarding healthy lifestyle and tried hard to stay fit, active, and healthy.

This study attempted to identify how efficiently and effectively the golf resort develops and operates the satisfaction of the environment-friendly service quality for which many leisure sports consumers have recently had the high concern and preference, for this purpose, it attempted to investigate the effect of travelers` satisfaction of the environment-friendly service quality on their image, royalty and revisiting. As a result, the following findings were obtained: First, it was found that the male travelers satisfaction the environment-friendly course and lodging facilities higher than the male counterparts in relation to the environment-friendly service quality of the golf resort, And it was found that the travelers above their 50s of age satisfaction environment-friendly subsidiary facilities and that the travel of low or high educational level evaluated the environment-friendly course higher than anything else. And it was found that the travelers with the monthly income of 3,000,000~4,000,000won evaluated environment-friendly F&B facilities and subsidiary facilities than any other income group. Second, it was found that the environment-friendly lodging facility, F&B facility and landscape architecture of the golf resort had a positive effect on travelers`satisfaction, which had a significant effect on their image, royalty and the revisit.

The purpose of this research is to analyze current issues on the modern Olympic Games and to investigate alternative solution for globalized and integrated international community though the modern Olympic Games. The modern Olympic Games have various dimensions so it is necessary to understand the Games based on multi-dimensional approaches. The Games could be understood as economical, political and cultural events in international community. For each aspect, the Games have its own unique characteristics to evaluate. However, the Games also need to overcome various types of challenges for example, terrorism, doping, commercialism, corruption, human rights, etc.. As a results, the Modern Olympic Games must reserve the Games` value and identity in contemporary society.

The Philosophical Differences between Martial Arts and Sports

I analyzed the fundamental differences between the Eastern martial arts and Western sports, comparing their essences in this paper. It is no doubt that irreconcilable differences exist between the martial arts and sports because of their inherent philosophical stances. That is, there are some differences between martial arts and sports in some aspects such as objects, practice, goals, and history. However, many think the martial arts is synonymous with sports because the forms have been mis-presented in the West. This has led to a misunderstanding of the martial arts. The purpose of the martial arts is entirely different from that of sports. Any similarity is superficial and relates only their engagement in physical activity. It is helpful to understand the meaning of physical activities of the East and the West by examining martial arts and sports.

Proliferation of Schwann cells present in distal stump of injured sciatic nerve is a critical step for successful regeneration and this process is facilitated by physical activity. Extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) regulates proliferation and differentiation of non-neuronal cells, but correlation between ERK1/2 activation and exercise remains mostly unknown. Here we show that phosphorylation of ERK1/2 (p-ERK1/2) mediates proliferation of Schwann cells at early stage after injury and treadmill training (TMT) is a key regulator for upreulation of p-ERK1/2 induction levels via activation of Schwann cells. Using primary cell culture techniques, we identified the positive effect of low- intensity TMT on neurite outgrowth of dorsal root ganglions (DRG) and proliferation of Schwann cells in normal rat. After sciatic nerve injury, TMT increased induction levels of GAP-43 protein, regeneration marker, according to the passage of TMT duration and sustained phosphorylation of ERK1/2 by 7 days after injury. Also transcription factor c- Jun related with MAPK was observed in injured nerve at 3 days post crush and largely upregulated by daily TMT performance. P-ERK1/2 protein expressed in Schwann cells was distally transported and accelerated by TMT at 1 and 3 days post crush. We further demonstrate that TMT promoted axonal regeneration 3 days after sciatic nerve injury, greatly suppressed by in vivo administration of ERK kinase inhibitor PD98059. Thus, the present data provide a new evidence that TMT-mediated enhancement of axonal regeneration involves dynamic regulation of Schwann cell activity by phosphorylation of ERK1/2.

The purpose of the study was to identify a standardized RPE zone equivalent to the ventilatory breakpoint (Vpt) in young who varied in physical activity level to be useful for both prescription and self-regulation of aerobic exercise intensity. Thirty-two young adults (13 females & 19 males), aged 25-29 years participated in the current study. During a graded exercise test (GXT) on a cycle ergometer, RPE was measured using both the OMNI-Cycle Scale (0-10) and the Borg Scale (6-20). Heart rate, blood pressure, ventilation and oxygen consumption were measured during the GXT, and Vpt was calculated (% VO2peak). The mean value of VO2peak for females was 29.9 ± 8.7 ml/kg/min, and the mean value of VO2peak for males was 33.8 ± 6.3 ml/kg/min, The mean Vpt for females was 70.5%VO2peak, and the mean Vptfor males was 70.1%VO2peak. The mean RPE at Vpt was 6.1 ± 1.3 with the OMNI Scale and 14 ± 1.5 with the Borg Scale. RPE at the Vpt measured by both the OMNI and Borg Scales did not differ between genders. The findings of the current study support the use of a standardized RPE zone as an indicator of the ventilatory breakpoint in young adults using the OMNI-Cycle Perceived Exertion Scale.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of combined exercise training on physical fitness in middle school adolescents. The subjects of middle school students were divided into two groups according to sex; boys (n=33) and girls (n=24). The boys and girls participated in a combined exercise program lasted for 12 weeks, The combined exercise program did not result in a significant changes in body composition and speed in both groups, However, their cardiopulmonary fitness and muscular strength improved significantly after the program in both groups. Muscular endurance and flexibility increased in boys while the power increased significantly in girls after the program, the results suggests that the combined exercise program can be applied for improving endurance parameters of physical fitness for middle school adolescents.
